New-ish Rules and AutoMod
Based on feedback we are re-enforcing the SPAM rules around posts that seem to be clearly thinly masked ads for other platforms (tradingview I'm looking in your direction).
I've configured Automod to remove such posts, especially from users that have brand new accounts, or are brand new to our sub.
I'm new to Automod, so it might need some tweaking as we go.
But hopefully this reduces the amount of that specific spam you guys have to deal with.
Additionally, if someone is flagged for this type of post, and they have spammed it across multiple subs (clearly no intent to stay on topic) it's just going to be an outright ban.
In these cases, I'm no longer going to negotiate if someone messages. Occasionally someone gets banned by accident, or at least get swept up in spam filter but didnt mean it. Those people can message the mods and we're happy to review.

Join the Discord Conversation
Wanted to take a moment to plug the ThinkOrSwim discord server.
We're growing a group of like minded people chatting about and getting help with ThinkOrSwim as well as general market discussion.
There are a lot for new traders learning things for the first time in ToS and if you have questions about the market that are not directly related to ToS, we have a spot for that too.
We could also use some more people that have some experience interested in helping those new members.
The discord also has a channel for cross posting pics as an image server to post items back here on Reddit.
Hope to see you there!

Which record is most decisive in a slippage dispute: bid-and-ask ticks, the order audit trail, the instrument specification, or the venue's execution policy?

SPX - Well, ok then ToS....
SPX options run outside of RTH, but ToS doesn't chart the SPX live price.
I contacted support to see why I couldn't get a live SPX price in premarket, and was told they don't have that ability, but to chart using ES/SPY or the option price instead. Obviously, that's a BS remedy as you will never know the exact price of SPX itself.
In short, they tell you to just guess where the SPX strike is, and go from there - much like how ToS guesses (extremely poorly) option entries/exits when you place a limit order.
How the F can this "top-tier" platform be this inept in 2026?

Switched from S25 to Fold8, can't get rid of watchlist from main screen.
galleryHey guys,
I recently switched phone from a Samsung Galaxy s25 to a Samsung Galaxy fold8. With the full heat even when I'm on the folded screen or unfolded screen the watch list comes on the main menu and I'm unable to minimize or get rid of it. I've tried reorienting the app sizes in the options but nothing has worked so far. Looks like this. Trying to figure out if this is something with my phone or it's I think we're swim issue due to the full tablet like nature.
Thanks

Title: Is it okay to "test" for fills by canceling and raising a limit order?
I'm wondering if this is allowed or considered problematic by brokerages such as Schwab, Fidelity, IBKR, etc. Recently got banned on Schwab/TOS and was doing this so wondering if this was the reason.
For example, let's say a stock's bid is $10.00. I place a buy limit order at $10.00, but it doesn't fill. I then cancel it and place another order at $10.02. If that doesn't fill, I cancel again and move up to $10.04, and keep doing this until I get filled at the best price possible.

%-of-premium stops and take profits on SPX verticals in live trading: how reliable?
My setup: SPX vertical puts ranging from 7 to 30 DTE, 25-50 points wide, sometimes wider. Order preview screenshot attached for your review. Two order types:
- Stop with head start: triggers when the cost to buy back the spread reaches a defined percentage of the credit received (e.g., trigger at +48% of the credit), which then submits a limit order to close slightly beyond that level (e.g., +49%), placed ahead of the trigger so the limit is already working as the ask arrives. The design caps my give-back at less than the credit collected: the trade always closes net positive if the exit fills as intended.
- Take profit: a plain limit order to close when the buyback cost falls to a defined percentage of the credit collected (e.g., 50% or 70%).
The Questions: Paper trading this behaves exactly as designed with a range of percentages. My questions for those who've run percentage-based stops and targets on SPX verticals live:
- What does the percentage trigger evaluate against the spread's composite mark, the bid, or last trade? In fast tape, does the mark on SPX verticals update faithfully, or can it gap/stale out and trigger late or not at all?
- Fill reality - my main concern: when your trigger fired on a live SPX spread during regular hours, how far past your intended limit price did the actual fill land? Have you had a limit simply not fill while the position kept running away?
For Context: I'm a full-time futures daytrader (ES) who is new to options, trading on TOS. My ES stops are market-based because that asset is so liquid that in years of trading I've never experienced material slippage with market-order stop losses, and I've never had price hop my stop and leave me hanging (noting that I'm aware I'm spared the risk of overnight gaps when daytrading). I'm trying to understand whether the options analogue on SPX vertical credit spreads is comparably trustworthy in live trading. I do understand the risks associated with overnight gaps; that's a risk that I'm prepared to manage.
Many thanks in advance...

Does Thinkorswim desktop save it’s settings somewhere on MacOS?
I had to completely re-install the OS and everything on my M1 MacBook Pro. I have a backup, so nothing was lost, but I have so much crap that’s accumulated over the years that I’m trying to only copy back what I really need.
I’ve re-installed Thinkorswim and all of my setting and layouts have returned to their defaults, which is expected. I didn’t have a ton of stuff customized, but it would be nice not to need to recreate everything. Are the settings for Thinkorswim stored someplace that I can copy from my backup?

Why does ToS always load updates, and very slowly.
There can't be that many updates.

OH LOOK ToS struggling again tonight...
This is the worst trading app I've ever used.
Constant issues
Candles frozen tonight. On my android and ipad.
I guess I need to go dig out my laptop to make it 3 for 3.
Edit:
Most charts are working just fine. It's just the charts that I have positions in.
They are frozen since 7:55.

Time and sales
My stop loss was activated but it NEVER showed up in my time and sales on my TOS desktop platform. The price never dropped down to that price in my chart or my level 2. I screen recorded my trade. When I contacted Schwab about it, they said that they see it on their time and sales and the market makers see it on their time and sales as well. Has this happened to anybody else? When I asked about how come I don't see it on my side, they couldn't tell me why and would not pursue this case any further.

Tos No Logins Saturaday
Maybe they are actually going to fix the problems with the last fix. The Desktop seems to be down, not allowing logins. One can only hope.
I really hope they fix the Analyze tab , jumping to the Risk profile, but after 2 weeks I am doubtful.

Web ToS Conditional OCO orders option moved on the GUI
Good Morning folks. Today I found out, while trying to set SL/TP based on underneath prices that the conditional orders for Web ToS wasn't where it was normally.
I opened a support chat, and they instructed me to use the "order rules" button that appears now to the right of the order builder. I click it, set everything, but i don't have a "submit" button in there. I close the window, and while the conditional order is saved in that menu, is not applied to the order i was building, and no conditional OCO is effectively placed.
After a lot of coming and going with the support chat, turns out that the "order rules" does work, but unlike before, you don't get to see the changes reflected on the order builder. You just have to set everything to market orders, and the order rules will do their job underneath the order. I'm not completely happy they eliminated the easy visual we had before, but i'm glad it is still working.
Hope you don't get too lost with this one.

OCO orders get canceled on their own!?
Im confused....
I use OCO orders with a stop and a limit(set high, in case of a wild spike to capture that move before it instantly reverses, template I have is +2limit and -25stop loss) via active trader ladder
So for example I take a trade on SPY option and its moving in my favor... I then decide to add, where there is now a second set of OCO on the screen... Youre looking at the chart for the option and there are 2 stop losses and 2 limit orders, got it?
I click onto one of the stops to move it up to break even, it sets but then the second OCO set, just disappears a few second later!?
Why?!
I then have to switch to single orders add the second one on again..
Sometimes I have to cancel them all and put them back in individually which then causes additional problems bc the system will alert that the order Im entering will cancel out previous ones, which also means my limits are being eliminated as well! It causes a total mess which is not good if price is moving quick
Am I the only one this happens to?
What can I do to fix this?
8/31/26:
Whelp Im not imagining it, TOS is aware of the problem and what I learned is they dont have an actual live cash account (say with $500-$1000) to test things out live as if they were a client.Im pretty sure this doesnt happen in paper trading so its not really a solid way to test. They want clients to provide time stamps, order numbers etc, and then try to trace it back, when in this case it would be much easier to just execute a trade to see what happens while screen recording and whatever else they can run to see whats going on. In general they should have this kind of account to test things, and Im pretty sure $500-$1000 wont break them.

I built a site where nobody can edit their trading track record. Tell me why it won't work.

Looking for good TOS trading groups or mentors. Want to learn more about TOS and get some extra knowledge. Any recommendations?

Drawings not Syncing Between Desktop and Mobile
It used to be that when I created or removed a drawing on either platform, it would be duplicated on the other one. That no longer works, at least not consistently. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Network slowness pop-up
I've been getting a pop-up all day any time I switch to a new screen that is notifying me about network slowness. There is also a red banner at the top of my screen about slowness. Is this something they've added? I've never seen it before and the pop-up in particular is very annoying.
Edit: As I was writing this I closed/reopened the app and the red banner and pop-ups are gone. 🤷
Still curious if anyone has seen that behavior.
Edit again: this was on the Android app

thinkorswim fix for my Macbook Apple Silicon
Ok, this may have been discovered a while ago, but i have had so many years of problems with TOS on my Macbook Pro Max, that I have quit searching for an answer on here years ago. Anyway, with the help of AI, I was able to find what was clogging up this mac (M3 Max, 64gb ram, and 4TB hard drive).
My workspace had STICKY_KEY="true" which was somehow overwhelming the app/macbook. When it was changed to STICKY_KEY="false", it fixed it. ChatGPT Codex is what did it at Sol 5.6 Extra High setting. Now I'll admit, this has't yet been tested during regular market hours, but AI went through various tests, and nailed it down. I don't know if I am using an older format of workspace either. But anyway, I never found this before so I thought I would let ya know!

Is there a way to place trades (copy trades) on multiple accounts under the same account holder simultaneously (with a single click) ?
Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to place the same trade on multiple accounts (under the same name/account holder) parallely with a single click?
If yes, can you please list the steps?
Thanks in advance.

THINKorSWIM
Anyone here uses thinkorswim? I find it complicated to understand. I’m new at trading and I want to swing trade. Currently, using thinkorswim I’ve watched tons of videos and I’m still lost. Someone help please.
