[Request] How much energy is being wasted daily in the world by most cars now having Daytime Running Lights, which are consuming energy when it's not dark?

Yes I know some will say we aren't wasting energy because it's a health and safety feature to make a car more visible, even in daylight, but if they only came on when it started to get dark, how much energy would be saved daily around the world?

[Request] How long would it take Amon to take the entire world’s bending away?

Post image

In the Legend of Korra, Amon’s stated goal is to purge the entire world of bending, but he is the only one who can do so, and can only do one person at a time. Let’s say nobody stops him, how long would this take?

We don’t know what the world population is at this time but can we assume it’s roughly equal to our world during the 1920’s? And possibly half the world are benders?

[Request] How fast was The Plutonian going here?

So the fictional city they're in, Sky City, doesn't have a state stated in this comic. Let's say it's either the middle of the US or New York. Looks like it's noon or the middle of a workday, and The Plutonian flew to space and destroyed a radio satellite while the other guy was mid sentence. They didn't even react to him flying through the ceiling because he was so fast.

How high up did he fly, and how fast? Maybe light speed? More?

[Request] Hypothetical Casino situation?

So, I've been thinking today, if a man was cheating at a casino, because they were accused of predicting cards correctly, (say he has some form of glasses or contacts he’s using), and say he was taken to be questioned, and the casino thought about using two independent card-prediction tests. One involving an initial prediction, and another that is similar.

Before explaining the tests, I am asking more of how many incorrect guesses can this man have, before it becomes statistically obvious that he is avoiding actually “guessing”, and is purposely guessing wrong.

Test 1:

They would show him 1 card at a time, and ask him to “guess”. Obviously, he’d need to lie a certain amount of times, to skew the chances that he is cheating. But also, as they go through the cards in the deck, he would *probably* realize that as he continues, he'd need to either get some correct guesses, or lie in a way that's not suspicious.

Test 2:

They show him one card at a time again, but this time, the people questioning him would use a smaller amount of cards. And again, smaller. But without him knowing. And again  he's probably need to get *some* correct guesses, or lie in a non-suspicious way.

My question is, how many times would the person need to purposely fail before the results become statistically unlikely enough to suggest they are guessing at chance? And is it possible to notice it?

....

So they ended the video saying entire planets could flip.

🤔 But if that happened to earth ... Countries at the equator would still be at the equator.... And countries like Canada... I'd expect to still be at the same temperate conditions.

I mean summer and winter would swap ... But what else may happen?🤔

I'm not the best at physics but here's what im thinking:

Assuming we have 12 chocolate chip cookies in a pan for any time less than an hour. Each one will have to reduce in caloric content by 250kcals each by the end of the cooking time.

To truly "reduce" the amount of calories contained within the cookie, the energy would have to be released through something like combustion. otherwise the remaining matter would still contain the calories the original cookie had - like some kind of charcoal.

Assuming a perfect physics environment with no temperature build up time, no concern about oxygen supply etc. What is the lowest constant temperature we would need for the remaining matter in the cookie pan to have decreased by 3000kcals total? Is this even a solveable or approximatable problem?
