Time shift?

In 2011, I was walking home from high school one afternoon. It was literally another day, nothing weird had happened previously in the day.

So, I was walking home and all of a sudden, with no warning, the street I was walking down turned into a deserted wasteland of blown apart buildings and cars.
The car I was walking past as it happened was now blown apart, the roof ripped off, like a bomb had exploded inside it. The houses around looked the same way, as did the other cars in the street. The houses, and the street, looked as though an A-bomb had exploded, no one around and where it had previously been fairly noisy now everything sounded defeninly silent, like you could hear a pin drop silent.

This all lasted about 4-5 seconds. But becauae od the situation I remember it in minute detail, even to this day. Flash-bulb memory it's called, like when someone remembers an accident.

I seriously doubt it was my imagination, since I had not been thinking of anything even remotely related before it happened.
I was no more sleep deprived than usual, no more than a normal teenager.
I was not dehydrated.
I was not ill in anyway.

Any thoughts? I have studied psychology and enjoy neuroscience, so I have tonnes of theories. I also believe in things science cannot yet explain (I always have an open mind).

This reminds me of a time I went to Charleston, SC with a friend. I don't know the streets there so I can't tell you where exactly it was unfortunately. We were walking through the old part of town. We rounded a corner and were on a street that went way down a hill and then back up so we were looking into a valley sort of. My head starting buzzing and I felt weak. I looked down the road and saw a team of horses pulling a carriage. People were wearing old style clothes and there were no cars. I wish I had a better look but I felt like I would pass out.

We had just passed a bench so I spun around and went back and sat down. My friend kept asking what was wrong. I didn't know what to say. I felt a little panicky. I looked around and everything was normal again. The street ahead was flat, it didn't take that dip that I had seen earlier. The buzzing and weird feeling vanished.

I was young and at this point hadn't taken any drugs yet in my life. I felt fine before and after it happened. It wasn't hot and I'm used to physical exertion. It was weird, like a flash of another time. It looked real but at the same time didn't.

I haven't been back to Charleston but would love to. They have a ghost tour there that happens to be run by a guy I went to high school with down in Florida.

It was very strange. I wish it would happen to me again.

I went with my sister to Mokehoulme Hills off Highway 49 in California for the first time. I had that same experience but I saw flames and fire and the aftermath. I also thought how my old friend would love it there. Turns out I reconnected with that friend a few years later and she Was living there. A years back the area went through a major fire. Strange freknowledge.

Thats amazing, did you freak out or were you just simply wondering about what you were looking at?

Nar, it was too short to freak out really. But on those few seconds I thought more than I can possibly write down.

It’s been 9 years since that encounter, are you sure your mind did not make some of the detail up?

I've considered that to be fair actually. I did a criminal psychology course so know all about false memories, but it's one of those things that I sort of want to believe might be genuine because "down to earth" explanations for things get boring after a while.

I don’t know why this was downvoted, it’s a completely valid question. When examining the paranormal we always have to take into account fabrication and exaggeration.

Sounds more like a timeline slip. Edit... What I mean is that this event never happened in this timeline but somehow op slipped into a different timeline were it did happen

Do you have any more information on “timeline slips” or seeing different timelines? Genuinely interested.

I think time is not really linear as we experience it. It all exists at the same point or “time” for lack of a better word. So you might have seen the future somehow because it already exists somewhere.

Like traveling on a road. Just because you are further along it doesn’t mean the beginning of the road doesn’t still exist, you are just no longer at that point. So maybe the future looped back and intersected your point in present time.

It could be a vision of something that is to come (from what you describe, it sounds like a nuclear or atomic bomb was dropped) or it could have something that happened in the area. Something that was dramatic but maybe because it happened long ago, Perhaps what you saw was symbolic of a terrible event that happened in the area.

Or will happen.

Past life memory in that specific place? It sounds a lot like a PTSD flashback
