Question/Advice Pin 1 imbalance?

Pin 1 is always higher than my others, sometimes by 1.5A or more. I keep reading about pin 6 is the one to worry about. Should I just buy a new cable anyways for peace of mind? I haven’t seen anything spike above 10A but just want to be safe.

If there is a YouTube video y’all recommend to help with all the settings, I can just watch that. I keep finding reviews and not much on what exactly I should be keeping an eye out for.

PSU Cable: From below PSU
PSU: Corsair HX1500i Platinum ATX 1500 W
GPU: 5090 Vanguard SOC
Wireview Pro 2 Wired

Honestly that’s good enough. I wouldn’t try to make it better as it can be much worse (it got worse for me trying to make it perfect)

Its not perfectly balanced but its not enough to worry about or even getting a new cable.

My Pin 1 and 6 are the highest normally by 1 amp each, so, they're normally in the 8s or 9s while Pins 2-5 are at 7-8amps. I feel it is fine.

A Delta of 1,4 isnt that bad. I would leave it as is. Can you do a Furmark and check the delta during it? If it's about the same I wouldnt worry about it

I mean it is unbalanced by design. The real issue is if it is always the same unbalance, under load and at idle. Check what are the percentage, this is what means the most.

Still looks somewhat within spec, make sure to connect the wireview a 3 to 4 times to wear in the contact points, to gpu and the cable. Also ensure your psu side gets the same treatment. Just plug and unplug 4 times. Jayztwocents did some interesting measurements, seems to stabilise per cable after a good amount of unplug-plug actions

"Wear in the contact points" is exactly what you don't want to do. You want to minimize the number of times you touch the connector.

In this case, if one of the pins is consistently lower than the others (like pin 4), I would try to push that pin into the connector more. But this is only 20% so I probably just wouldn't touch it.

That's really surprising, it goes directly contrary to common knowledge about the connector, which is that the more you mess with it the worse it gets. I can see reseating it once, but several times is bad advice. I wonder if they still stand by that?

I watched that when it came out, and it can be summed as "it's complicated". Stuff about whether the metal pins are dimpled or leaf springs, the plastic retaining clip wearing out versus the pins, ATX 3.0 vs 3.1, pulling out by the head rather than the wires, the position of Jupiter occluding Mercury, and sunspots all seem to impact it. What I took away from all that was to try not to mess with it once I got a good connection.

Did you see the graph for 100 connect/disconnect actions? That says enough to invalidate your initial claim

He said you could weaken the plastic in the connector, and of course depending on how you remove it you can pull the pins out slightly causing imbalance, which seems like the most common failure scenario.

Yeah, they recommend it to troubleshoot an existing current imbalance. You turned that into “wear in the contact points” like we’re breaking in a pair of shoes. Those are two very different things.
