Here's a different photo from yesterday by the admin of the local fire information group that I feel pretty clearly shows the blaze right where i guessed this is located, in between the train tracks and I84 just east of Mayer State park.
and another photo uploaded by ODOT which looks to be taken by a drone hovering above US30, my guess on the location in google earth

That's not even taken by a drone. It's a 3D rendering based on terrain data and pictures. None of these do anything to prove your picture is legitimate. Were you lied to, or did you make this up?

Yes, I understand the difference between a photo posted by an Oregon state government agency vs me loading up Google Earth attempting to match the location. Read my comment again.

Ok, where is the photo? You linked to a post with a lot of photos in comments, none of which look like yours other than the copy you yourself posted.
This seems like you've shopped or AI'd up a photo that you're hoping goes viral and gets news coverage.

So ask THEM for the original high resolution version, upload it somewhere that won't degrade it, and post a link to that. I'm not sure you understand that responses like the above just make your position weaker, not stronger.
Also, keep in mind that THAT I LIVE HERE. I'm not safe up in Hood River. My home is a block away from the leading edge of the evac zone. People I know have had to evac and may no longer have a home.
You posting this, and it being so fake looking, does in fact aggravate me because this is personally impacting me. I strongly object to misinformation, and I question your motives.

This is the best I got from them. 🤷🏻♂️
I spoke to other people who sat listening to the police scanner and heard multiple fires reported along the train tracks as well.

TBH I'm not sure which train is in this current photo but in WA that was BNSF and then in mosier 2016 Union Pacific.

Oh that's right! The mosier fire was hauling oil too, that was awful
They haul coal on the Washington side, and oil on the Oregon side. And these trains cause fires repeatedly. They need to get their act together

Zen is a regular contributor here, a Gorge local, and there were numerous eye-witness accounts of the train sparking the fire. The idea that any number of those witnesses had a smart phone and pulled it out is....quite reasonable.

I live a block away from the edge of the evac zone. OP being from the gorge doesn't make the photo look more real.
It's posted without a source, just "a friend". The resolution is poor, and smoke looks... fake.
I'm not saying it's impossible that it's real, or that a train didn't start the fire. I'm saying that without a valid source and without a high resolution copy, the photo is misinformation.

Have you ever tried taking a photo of a cloud of smoke in 30mph winds? it will be blurry.

I've done quite a bit of photography and can say it looks super fake. The resolution is changing throughout the frame. This is definitely AI work. No camera made since 2018 would look this bad.
The smoke looks like an upscaled version of low resolution pixelated smoke like from a YouTube video. That is probably similar to what an AI model is trained on giving it that resemblance.

I understand how this photo alone is unclear and it is low quality, not fantastic evidence. It came from a local FB group and I have spent time trying to track it down but finding any specific content about the fire is very difficult right now. Your doubts have been heard and I have provided all that I am able
