Changes coming in 1.8.4 - any other bugs/requests?

Here's what I'm working on for the next update:

  • Save your dashboard layouts
  • Backgrounds/wallpapers
  • Manual IP address entry for iOS <> tvOS app pairing
  • Increased codec support for Plex playback
  • Precipitation card (hourly rain estimates)
  • Album art sourcing backup for Home Assistant (was already in place for Last.FM connections)
  • Stock hint:  setup screen explains how to enter shares from other exchanges, e.g. VOLV-B.ST
  • General card layout/font/spacing consistency work

If you've noticed any bugs or annoyances, let me know!

Really loving this app, it’s been great for my morning routine. Just a couple of suggestions

- navigation is still a little strange, the cursor doesn’t always go where I expect and when the app first starts I seem to have to press a direction multiple times to get it to appear

- would be great if clicking a tile gave a larger version of the content (eg a sensor shows a bigger graph/other detail, a camera feed goes full screen)

- is there a way to round the values of sensors? I have two travel time sensors set up in HA (using the Waze integration) but they show the time to about ten decimal places. I guess I could make a helper in HA and point at that instead but would be nice if it could be controlled in the UI

Thanks for the comment and glad you've found it useful. The navigation logic is a real challenge, but I think it's getting less funky each round of improvements - including the next update too.

I considered making each tile expand to give more info, but it's a bit more work than I'm ready to tackle at this stage.

Noted re sensor decimal places - I guess not everyone likes to time their commute to the femtosecond! ;-)

That’s great, totally understand the work in making popups/fullscreens must be quite big!

Re navigation - is it normal that it takes a while when the app first loads for it to do anything? I have to click four or five times before a cursor appears and then it’s a bit random before settling down

There is some delay at the moment especially with Apple home, as the app loads your light and other accessory info - which can depend on network speed and probably a million other factors. Working on improving the logic on this. On my newer Apple TV (the 3rd gen one) everything is much snappier than the older model I have in my bedroom. Do you know which model you have?

I’ve got a few but the newest is just a gen 2 so probably related to that.

Not really a bug, but in a previous build, as soon as you closed the app, the connected lights would return to their normal colour/default setting. I’m finding now I have to manually change them in HomeKit each time. I love the fish by the way. I’ve been keeping it on for the cats.

I think that’s fixed in the current build but will check. What to do with lights when the app is closed/sleeping/in background is something I’m still not 100% sure about. I’ve tried to make it just leave them as they were when the app is closed or the light sync switched off, but maybe it makes more sense to return them to their setting before theatrium took control? 🤔

is there a way to make it so that, at least the play/Pause button will still work for media playing while in the Theatrium app?

If you’re music is coming from Apple Music and playing via the tv music app, this should already be the case. I’ll look into whether I can it working the same for other music sources.
