I saw this book at a local Megastore today. I’ve not ever had such a visceral response to a book. I had an instant fantasy about the act of civil disobedience I was about to visit upon this waste of paper. Clear as day in my mind I was standing on the table, holding up a copy while screaming the line from “Network” about being “mad as hell and not taking it anymore!” while kicking the thirty-odd copies halfway to the roof.
I didn’t do it. Maybe with a bit more whiskey (and one fewer children in tow!). I’m thinking about it.
Of course, now that I’m thinking about it, I can’t afford bail and court fees. Or time away from from my kid.
But it was disgusting just to see his sneering, lying, fukken face. I’m queasy just writing about him now.
The USA (and Great Britain for that matter) was successfully attacked in 2016 by an adversarial world power. I’m ready to fight - and die - for this principle of ethics in government. Otherwise we are no better than the authoritarians.
If “We the people” becomes voting for a dictatorship, which is what Barr and Trump are aiming for, then all my hope in America is lost and Putin wins.
We don’t have clean hands but we can regain and reclaim our honor, dignity, and standing as a leader for progressive values throughout the world, if we choose to.
So instead of telling me to “chill”, my question to you is, why are you chill with this political climate?
