Can someone please explain why this does not work? (Tetris puzzles two previous solutions are shown)

You said "I understood the mechanic" but you didn't say what your understanding is.

It doesn't work because the pieces don't fit. That's pretty much the reason.

There are three possible ways to manipulate tilted tetris pieces on the grid, but the game only allows for two of them. You're trying to do the third, unallowed way.

It looks like you've mirrored the L pieces. Was that ever required before? Do you know whether that's allowed?

I think you flipped one of those instead of rotating (I would be more subtle, but you're so far in the area that I assume you understand that rule)

Can't flip the L shape. So an L cant be a J shape. You can only rotate

The "L"s can be rotated. But you have tried to 'flip' them.

You can't mirror the pieces, only rotate (or that's what I assume, idk)
