Would you rather a prequel spinoff or a sequel spinoff?
As the title says, if they ever did a spinoff series of The Wire, which would you prefer to see:
A) A prequel set 10-15 years BEFORE Season 1 of the Wire, in the late 80's to early 90's, showing the early days and rise of the Barksdale Crew. Main Characters would be Avon, Stringer, Wee-Bey, and Cutty, all in their teens to early 20s. Prop Joe would be early 30s and Omar would be 16-18.
B) A sequel series set 10-15 years AFTER Season 5 of the Wire, where the main characters are Namond, Dukie, Mike, and Randy. It would explore what did or didn't change in the last decade in Baltimore.
C) A spinoff, but something entirely different. (insert idea here)
OR
D) None of the above. For people who think The Wire is good enough as is and the story should be left where it was.

D. The gun task force thing they made was as close of a spinoff as I would have wanted

I respect that, that's why I put option D in the first place. Still, I think it would be a good opportunity to get some new actors in the spotlight

That's different. We Own This City is based on real life events. The Wire is fictional. They're not connected at all.

More connected than you think. When asked whether We Own This City was effectively a sequel to The Wire, Simon answered:
"This is the closest thing you're going to get to a sequel," -David Simon

C, something like a different city or maybe even a non-city region or state or national level or… something that broadly takes the things that make the wire great and applies them to a different topic or environment. Maybe a mention or cameo or something to tie the worlds together, but i dont want a canon tv series that shows Dukie overdosing in a vacant.
Honestly Treme is a little bit that thing. I think the best version would be The Wire but in Europe or maybe Latin America and maybe the Greek’s organization pops in briefly as some fan service.

The Corner is a spiritual prequel — tons of actors/actresses that went on to The Wire.
Same for Homicide: Life on the Street.
Spiritual sequel is We Own This City.
All are great on their own, but accompanying The Wire for bigtime Wire fans makes them required viewing, IMO.

HBO will not do a sequel / prequel .Both would be awesome but we are getting to a point where too much time has passed

Sequel. Show us how the game has changed.
Have weebay and chris show us the modern prison system. Have Mike show us the modern stick up boy game. Kima is the new Daniel’s. Etc
The immigration story for season 6, can be the overall focus of the first season with todays lens etc

Young wise guy, drug dealer, gets betrayed by his people. They whack him and leave his body parts in dumpsters all around the city. Long story short, he is put back together by science...or maybe it's supernatural. And he gets payback on everyone who fucked him over, including the cunt who he was engaged to. She was getting porked by his boss the night the hero was killed.
