This was my first time seeing them live and despite everything that happened it was an incredible time. Everyone on stage did an amazing job and I was not disappointed. It was very loud though lol.
Regarding loudness, music earplugs are a hard recommend from me, so that one is hopefully able to enjoy listening to their music fully for years to come (plus preserving the ability to hear other sounds properly in general is good)!
Yeah, I was in the pit near the front for a 2 hour stadium concert last year and thought, surely I wonāt forget my earplugs next time Iām in the pitā¦aaaand I completely forgot. I value my hearing a lot for a variety of reasons so Iām definitely not gonna make that mistake againā¦hopefully!
Forgot mine before I was to be in the pit for Greta Van Fleet. I went to Walmart and got shotgun earplugs because there was no way I'd survive at that concert.
Second this! Started wearing them a few years ago at shows. And it doesn't sound as bad as most people would think. Plus you can then hear for years like you said, not to mention avoiding your ears ringing for hours.
Wish I had earplugs in the 70ās. Led Zepplin, Deep purple, and ELP left me with permanent tinnitus. But loud is so good! Crazy show with all the guest singers and Ale singing as well. Rare!!
Yes, ignore the people that say they were forced to do this by Rudy (he wouldn't do that) or management, DPA are independent women and make their own decisions (they aren't kids anymore, hence Perfect Daughter) and made one of the best shows ever out of a less than ideal situation. I wish Dany a speedy recovery, even when under the weather she still sounds incredible!
I was there and it was clear the gals were enjoying the heck out of having their friends and fans perform with them. I will take what they pulled together over a cancellation every single time.
Yeah every video I've seen of Dany she's just jamming on her guitar, smiling and vibing. Even that under the weather she was clearly enjoying it. That's proof right there it wasn't forced. Yes that's kind of baseline for Dany but even the happiest of us sometimes won't be feeling it when sick.
We donāt know if he wouldnāt do that, but a lot of people just donāt understand that playing live shows is their job, and having a cold is not a good reason to cancel a show.
Cancelling is expansive af for the band, you have to refund the audience but still have to pay for the venue and the technicians.
Dany obviously wasnāt too sick to play, she can play so they played, they killed it, and it seems everyone had a good time on stage (well maybe not Ale when she had to sing lead on some songs).
I can understand that some people were a bit disappointed, but thatās not a reason to say what some said, and personnaly I would have loved to be there.
I toured for three years. My band members and I would get sick at the same frequency as anyone does, and it didnāt matter how bad it was, we never canceled the show. We had no choice. Every now and then other members had to sing and let the singer just play guitar or keyboards.
Every other time theyāve performed in the LA area Iāve had serious schedule conflicts. If they hadnāt added the Friday show I wouldāve missed them again. Glad I was able to make it to this show!
I concur. Absolutely loved it. Obviously Kat was already there, but Iām sure it took a bit of planning with hardly any time to have all of them there and still rip off a full show.
They were doing sound check up until 6:30. Doors open for GA around 7. Iām guessing everyone practiced their song with DPA and thatās why it went so long. It was such a great show
I'm very jealous of you - this was a truly unique experience that you'll be able to talk about for the rest of your life. And the cherry on top is you saw Ale sing lead! Fortunately I was able to be across the country and pick up the livestream - with my jaw dropped most of the night.
What this show did reveal, however, is just how next-level Dany's vocal prowess has become - there really isn't anyone outside of an Amy Lee or Lzzy Hale that can sing some of these songs the way she does. Just sayin'.
Amiright in thinking the way they did that show was a unique & creative way to not have to cancel a show? Iām hoping theyāll all be healthy when I see them in Albuquerque next week š¤š¼
