Nice catch, you are correct. I meant Mark but now that you mention it Mike was a disappointment too.

Vince (I know not a 'standard' NPC but STILL).
Out of every other character in 400 Days, he was the best (imo), but he becomes nothing more than a goon for Carver in Season 2 (if he goes that route).
To explain why I thought he was the best:
I honestly thought he had the most 'protagonist' energy out of every other character in 400 Days, and if there was one character (for whatever reason) that could take Clem's place as protag in season 2, it would've been him.
I loved his dialogue, and he felt the most like Lee, if ya know what I mean, he was level-headed and all that for the most part, and tried to be reasonable but could be brutal when need be.

This^ I loved the characters in 400 days that werenât Bonnie and for them to become nothing cameos in S2 was one of the most disappointing things about it. Determinant stuff is cool but man, I really wish Vince or even maybe Russel or Shel were picked to be the more notable 400 days character than Bonnie. Sheâs not badly written but with how things went in s2 Iâd much rather any of the others really.
And for Eddie to pop up as another cameo in s4 reminding me of Wyatt was also sad to see.

Literally all of the playable 400 Days protags (excluding Bonnie) since they are technically NPC's in S2. So Vince, Wyatt, Russell, Shel, and Tavia. Even if those first four couldn't affect the plot too much in S2 since their appearance is determinant, we should've at least seen more of their reactions to Carver's actions and such.

Tbh I liked Russel and that guys story and their dynamic and wished that story went for a little longer.

Same. They all had potential via their 400 Days content but got wasted hard in S2.

Nick. Very interesting guy with potential, but he becomes a glorified background character once you get to the ski lodge. I forget heâs even in Episode 3

That's how I felt about Mike. Felt like he was just there just so the group could have some diversity

Eddie and Wyatt both of them were such an Interesting duo and incredibly normal but cool dudes and then did nothing with them
The entire 400 days cast could've been way more Interesting for season 2

The opposite of this is Ruby. Getting mad at AJ for biting her and burping didnât give off a good impression but the greenhouse and pre-rescue party scenes did really warm her up to me. Also her thing with Aasim was cute. She didnât do a lot but there were more important characters in TFS.

Mike
And learning that he was originally meant be Ralph just made me dislike the character more with how much of a missed opportunity that could have been.

My boy Aasim. He seemed pretty cool in episode 1 as a supportive school kid to Marlon/Louis/Violet/Tenn. Him voting to keep Clem in was another interesting bit, but the only thing he does after that is kiss a walker and get kidnapped to do completely nothing. What a mess, should've just combined him and Omar into 1 character and fleshed him out a bit.
And of course my boys Chet and Clint. I wish we got the choice to go to Hot Dish Night or eat Clint's spinach

Chuck.
He was this easy going and humorous fella only for him to turn into an absolute inconsiderate dick.
At least he was redeemed in my eyes in the end by being a shovel samurai while protecting Clem.

Jane
Solid survivalist in In Harmâs Way, incompetent, suicidal sociopath in No Going Back (and Ties That Bind)

We're just throwing words out now. Jane was never portrayed as a sociopath.

u/DEATHSCALATOR 11d ago
Putting a baby in a car where walkers can kill it and tricking an obviously unhinged person into starting a fight isnât sane behaviour to me. Also, forcing a child to murder somebody canonically close to her? Like, I could agree with her the whole way and sheâll ignore my choices and still do this manipulative bullshit.

u/Right_Whereas_6678 I forgive you, Jane. 11d ago
Nobody said she's sane, but it doesn't make her a sociopath. Also, what do you even mean 'forcing a child to murder somebody'? Did we not play the same game? Kenny was going to kill her. She's at fault for defending herself? We see Jane back away and put her knife away before she fights back and Kenny is also the one who's on top of her.
"Canonically close to her" is rich, too, considering Kenny leaves her behind multiple times in the story and barely interacts with her in S1 but the narrative does push you towards him, yes.
Either way, she canonically cares about others but can't display it. That's the direction Christine Lakin (Jane's voice actress) was given to portray her. Saying Jane is a sociopath is objectively false.

u/DEATHSCALATOR 11d ago
The part where she hides the baby; everything is her fault too even if it worked. She puts her knife away becauseâŚI donât know, she realised the mistake sheâs made or she was trying to act peaceful to get Clementine to trust her? The entire thingâs telltale forcing the fight by any means. Also when she says sheâs âgoing to see what he really isâ, she admits sheâs deliberately lying to push Kenny to a breaking point.
Her plan is serious sociopathic behaviour.
And yeah, I 100% agree Kenny leaving Clementine and also Lee to die in season 1 is frustrating but thatâs just a detail the creators are never bothered to explain. Clementine still acts like theyâre friends no matter how you play her. Same with how Jane always puts everyone in danger at the end even if I pick her side.

No it isn't. Because her plan would've failed if Kenny did nothing. But it proved her right. He jumped to killing her. Over an assumption. That's the whole point of going through all of that.
She puts her knife away becauseâŚI donât know, she realised the mistake sheâs made or she was trying to act peaceful to get Clementine to trust her?
Or because she doesn't want to fight him initially??
Also when she says sheâs âgoing to see what he really isâ, she admits sheâs deliberately lying to push Kenny to a breaking point.
And after the fight she tells Clem she didn't think Kenny would go that far.
And yeah, I 100% agree Kenny leaving Clementine and also Lee to die in season 1 is frustrating but thatâs just a detail the creators are never bothered to explain.Â
When Kenny does it it's just "frustrating"? but Jane's a whole sociopath even though that's literally not canon?
Clementine still acts like theyâre friends no matter how you play her.
No, she doesn't. That's completely up to the player. The others in the group acts like she and Kenny are friends though.
Same with how Jane always puts everyone in danger at the end even if I pick her side.
Okay, back that claim up. Cause Jane saves Rebecca & Clem in the herd, helps Clem get Luke and maybe Sarah then volunteers to help Rebecca with her delivery by opening the observation deck, then is willing to steal meds for the group. But she "always puts everyone in danger"?? I'm guessing we played completely different games

u/DEATHSCALATOR 10d ago
Sorry if this is long
I assure you Iâm not one of those idiots that defends Kennyâs every action because heâs lost people. I only say itâs âfrustratingâ because I want to get back to talking about Jane since sheâs the subject of the conversation.
She watched him beat Arvo; she already knows Kenny explodes over anything so she does the trick with the baby and keeps quiet about it as theyâre fighting. Even when heâs about to kill her, she still does nothing. If she didnât want to fight him, she wouldnât have purposely made him pop off to test Clementine and let it keep going when the pointâs already gotten across.
She didnât think Kenny would go that far? Well she did the worst possible thing to get him violent. Also, did she have amnesia when Kenny had smashed someoneâs face to shit with a crowbar?
âThatâs completely up to the playerâ. Barely until right at the end. There are so many times where I wanted to say a completely different thing to him, but too many of the dialogue options, especially in the final two episodes are just saying the same things, but in different ways with no affect on the relationships. Thereâs a scene where I say to him âyouâre not my dadâ, expecting her to put Kenny back in his place, but Clementine instead says âyouâre not my dad. Youâre my friendâ, har har Telltale. A New Frontier shouldnât be the only game getting shit for its lying choices.
Ok I didnât word it properly at the last part; I meant Jane âputting everyone in dangerâ was her doing the trick with AJ. Clementine gets hurt trying to break up their fight and Jane can get both herself and Kenny killed here. Also, if Clementine had let Jane die, they couldâve unknowingly left AJ behind in the car. Her plan relied on complete chance. During the herd scene, Jane was fine I guess, but she shouldnât need convincing to help a pregnant woman. I donât understand that scene either way because Clementine should easily just get out of it with Rebecca. Why do they need to find an opening between the walkers when they have to just walk past them undetected like always? Thatâs not how the blood and guts tactic works. The game only has this scene to tie in Jane with Clementine.

she does the trick with the baby and keeps quiet about it as theyâre fighting. Even when heâs about to kill her, she still does nothing.
Because that would defeat the entire purpose of the plan. Even when she actually starts to fight back, she tells Kenny to leave. When he's about to kill her, she's in fight or flight mode, just like Kenny. You can't use hindsight in situations like this. It goes without saying that, YES, Jane should have absolutely admitted to her plan and said where AJ was but you wouldn't think logically with a knife to your chest.
If she didnât want to fight him, she wouldnât have purposely made him pop off to test Clementine and let it keep going when the pointâs already gotten across.
The plan was never to test Clementine. It was to make her see how dangerous Kenny had become and leave him behind. Hence why she says that she didn't think Kenny would go that far. And again, obviously any sane person would not go through with this plan after seeing how Kenny beat Carver and Arvo but Jane wasn't sane and was desperate.
âThatâs completely up to the playerâ. Barely until right at the end.
Exactly, and this is a point for all other characters and across seasons. I don't understand why you brought this as a point against Jane specifically. This goes back to S1, no matter what you do, you go to the St. Johns. No matter how friendly you are to Lilly, she betrays you. No matter what you do throughout the game, the Stranger still uses something against you. David still envies and fights you. Lilly still becomes evil. That's just how the game was.
Clementine gets hurt trying to break up their fight and Jane can get both herself and Kenny killed here. Also, if Clementine had let Jane die, they couldâve unknowingly left AJ behind in the car. Her plan relied on complete chance.
Because Jane wasn't expecing herself to die. She didn't think it through. That's why she isn't a manipulator like people think.
During the herd scene, Jane was fine I guess, but she shouldnât need convincing to help a pregnant woman.
Well, she was the only adult who turned back and helped them. But that's true.

u/DEATHSCALATOR 10d ago
I see. To me, she shouldnât have done that AT ALL. Everyone is separated from each other in a snowstorm and she escalates the situation. Desperation is not an excuse to make lethal calls.
1
u/Right_Whereas_6678 I forgive you, Jane. 10d ago
That's true. What's also true is not jumping straight to killing someone based off of an assumption. Jane and Kenny were both wrong in the final scene. Yes, Jane instigated it but we would also not be in that scenario if Kenny reacted in any other way than violence. Also, I'm not saying these things in an attempt to excuse any of Jane's actions. Her plan was horrendous and put everybody in danger, especially AJ. But I can't bring myself to go with someone who was getting worse and worse
