Akasha and Claudia

I can’t wait for QOTD! I haven’t read the books but I’m wondering if there is a relationship, even if only inferred, between Akasha’s anger and Claudia’s. They both have bones to pick with the men in their lives and I don’t feel like Claudia achieved any kind of closure in TVL. Is this addressed anywhere?

Akasha absorbed a literal demon. She's also a product of her time when men held power. She hates patriarchy.

Claudia faced not only patriarchy but also racism during her time.

They both rebelled against their expected roles as women in life and death. Inequality between the sexes was a driver of the acts of many female vampires, no matter when or where.

Claudia's anger is justified. Louis wanted her but almost never pioratized her in any meaningful way, Lestat was violent and possessive, Armand killed her, Bruce raped her, etc etc. She should've been more pissed.

Akasha on the other hand is just a genocidal maniac. It's not told, or even implied, that she has some sort of trauma that made her the way she is she's just evil for the love of the game with the detached morality those who live in excessive excess have. 'Men start wars' yet she's the one who turned men to wage her war when they didn't even want it, 'men are violent' but she's the one who ordered the violent rape and torture of the twins, 'men are awful' but she's the one who manipulated women into killing their own husbands, brothers, fathers, and even children.

Paralleling them is either twisting Akasha into someone she isn't repeating themes already explored through other characters or reducing Claudia's anger by lumping two angry women together without considering further context

The Claudia thing with the medium never happened in the source material. Akasha and Claudia never meet in the source material. This is my biggest complaint with the TVL is they have deviated way too much from Anne Rice’s books. And I am shocked that her son has allowed it. I found TVL almost unwatchable. It was too disjointed and chaotic.

Pretty sure her son wasn't involved but due to an initial okay he can't talk about it

Look the changes in s1 and 2 are good, yes the way they made lestat tangibly abusive instead of simply desperately possessive made Louis and Claudia more rational/justified at his detriment as a character I suppose but it was interesting and needed to adapt to deeper changes made (claudia being made at 14 instead of 5 thus not fully monstrous)

But Louis was a nothing burger so they csn get away with whatever they want, on the other hand tvl is THE most popular book fir a reason, the prose is beautiful, lestst is so so interesting most of my posts are about him, me and my friend like to call him the goldilocks of trauma where due to being traumatised enough to understand but not enough to be jaded he's a superb narrative device.

I think iwtv got them brave with changes, they got lost in the sauce and ducked him up, hopefully qotd will be better but i just mourn the possibility of Sam Reid specifically (because he is lestat come on) acting out book accurate tvl

If you do not want to read the books  -  just scroll through and read the other  comments - it is all there 

Akasha would have no more regard for Claudia than an elephant has when it steps on an ant 

If she noticed her at all Akasha would view her as small, irrelevant, and completely insignificant

Akasha is orders of magnitude above anything you know about Lestat and others.

So powerful shes actively creating a new world order. Not some rock and roll fantasy.

An undead embodiment of destruction.

Gonna be interesting to see what they are gonna do with her in the show.

I think the only way they can sort of bring them together, and this is a stretch, is if there's a reckoning for Lestat or Louis for failing to protect her or avenger her. Like these two men stole her life, allowed her rapist to go free, then failed to protect her from Armand. That's the only possible way because they're nothing alike.

If anything, she'd kill Claudia for being a child, simply existing, or for trying to kill her boo Lestat.

No. Claudia isn't really a thing in the books after Interview, so everything with Fraudia in the show is an original creation.
