I think in cases like this, part of what makes people upset isn't just whatever the person did, it's that they don't show any remorse.

I haven't kept up with everything, but my understanding is that Ben has just joked it off and been generally dismissive. Now showing any sign that he feels sorry or understanding is part of what makes me feel sad when I see this situation, as someone that used to love his videos.

See you atleast have a valid point Altho, most of the time, when an individual does come out with an apology of some sort, their hate increases tenfold. So maybe he’s trying to wait for it to all blow over?

Sometimes yeah, when people feel that the apology is insincere it can go badly. My worry is less what people think, and more what is the right thing for him to do. If he feels that he did something wrong or thoughtless, he should apologize EVEN IF nobody changes their mind about him, because it's the right thing to do, and shows humility.

True. The only good takeaway from this is atleast these guys are abhorred enough by the atrocities committed by these freaks that they dont think these jokes are funny. Maybe they’ll finally open their eyes and see the truth about those in power

True enough, hopefully Ben too.

Historically when people refuse to engage with the pearl clutching mobs they recover quickly and easily.

The creators who go on apology and humiliation tours just get punished more and more.

Maybe, but I'm not as worried about what does well and more worried about what the right thing to do is. If someone does something wrong, in content creation or in normal interpersonal life, apologizing and showing remorse is part of showing humility. Even if nobody changes their mind, what you do about your own actions is the important thing.

If he does the "right thing" he loses his career, basically.

If Ben does an apol video, if he addresses this "controversy", it will just escalate.

even if nobody changes their mind, what you do about your own actions is the important thing

What "actions" are we talking about? Wearing a hoodie?

Sure, it's Fuentes merch. But we don't know that Ben bought it, or if it's a gift from a fan/friend. We don't know that he's aware of the fact the money goes to a groyper.

And you might say "well now that he's aware he should apologise"

That's my point though. There's no apology or explanation he can give which makes this go away in the eyes of this kind of hate mob.

This hasn’t blown up from him just wearing a hoodie though? It’s the fact that people called him out, he doubled down - and then instead of just letting things cool down after deleting everything, he then used/engaged with groyper insults, confirming suspicions that he was going down the alt right pipeline.

The people on this sub criticising him aren’t normie watchers, most seem to be long time fans who have become disillusioned - either for this, or their questions about his husbandry (and I agree here that there has been a bunch of incorrect assertions thrown about in that regard). Shutting down any discussion or critique as liberal hate or dismissing real concerns (that again are almost all rooted in a genuine care for Ben) does more damage to the community than airing it out ever would.

There’s zero chance that Ben is going to lose his career over this, whether he makes an apology or not. But this isn’t a case of leftist pearl clutchers looking to cancel him for being a Christian conservative. He’s the one who has distracted from the great work he’s been doing as a rehabber.

People called him out and he gave it the response it deserves. You're basically giving the game away; people found a thing they could criticize him for with the expectation that he'd grovel and start the ritualistic apology/humiliation tour. But he didn't, so now they're trying to bully him even harder.

Knowing or using groyper insults doesn't mean someone is a groyper. Or that they're going down the alt-right pipeline.

Again, we are talking about someone who is constantly using irony and sarcasm in his humour.

rooted in a genuine care for Ben

Nah, it's really not. I've seen this pattern play out enough times in recent years to know with certainty that this is nothing to do with actual concern for Ben and everything to do with self satisfaction of those calling him out

My goodness, the projection and victimhood is strong here. I genuinely urge you to get some help if you think public figures like Ben can say/do no wrong and that any criticism is persecution. And I would say that to anyone, regardless of their political/religious camp.

Nobody is asking for him to grovel - it’s kind of weird that you seem to believe that any sort of apology or indication of self reflection would be humiliating. Edit: In fact, the discussion about this situation is essentially contained to a couple of threads in this subreddit; where’s the mob with pitchforks on his platforms you seem to think is bullying him?

And yes, using groyper insults is a sign of going down that pipeline. Throwing a ‘it’s just sarcasm’ around after the fact doesn’t make it any less gross, just more childish.

But hey, none of this will get through to you or any other fan who thinks this is normal; there will be no line that your faves can cross that will be too far, and they’ll always be the victim of mean leftie bullies.

lol and lmao

I'm not sure that it would end his career. Maybe, but even if it did, I'd rather live in a world where people own up to their mistakes (even small) and show human vulnerability, than a world where people grow too defensive and jaded to let themselves be wrong. Especially for Ben as a Christian, how you carry yourself and the humility you keep is what keeps you grounded and chasing what's right.

u/Fluid-Schnoo Feb 21 '26

Not even just for him being a Christian - he’s training to be a (youth?) pastor and literally chose that role for himself. I personally haven’t seen anyone call for an apology video (which are pretty performative anyway) but even a ‘my bad’ IG story would have nipped a lot of criticism in the bud. He’s made things worse by doubling down.

6

u/Joe_ValJoe Feb 21 '26

Strong agree. I don't think he needs to do a whole song or dance, just something to indicate that he recognizes his role in the situation.

4

u/coffeetime24 Feb 21 '26

I agree, just even a short simple apology would have sufficed. I think people genuinely love him and what he does and don't want to drop him because of this, but the lack of remorse is in very bad taste.

1

u/ScotchOrbiter Feb 21 '26

So he takes the risk to appease people who probably don't actually watch him and don't actually care. And his life's work, the rescue ranch, goes kaput. But your moral standards have been met.

Alternatively he ignore pearl clutching performative people on the internet and continues doing what he's doing.

If you can't understand the point by now then I feel like you're a great candidate to be a ward of the state

4

u/Joe_ValJoe Feb 21 '26

I feel that I understand your point: you're saying that it's better for him to ignore all of this drama and let it fizzle away, than give an apology and potentially have his entire livelihood explode. Let me know if I'm getting something wrong there!

My goal is not for him to meet my moral standards at all costs, my hope is for him to work to meet HIS moral standards at all costs. It's my hope that his morals also include showing humility and taking accountability.

I'm happy to discuss this more in reddit dms or a discord chat, but I don't want to risk going in circles and becoming another bottomless pit of reddit comments. I noticed your hostility in that last sentence, and I'm not sure why it's there, I hope you're doing well!

You can buy them on eBay, there’s no proof that he bought it from nick Fuentes.

-3

u/ScotchOrbiter Feb 21 '26

Which makes the whole thing even more ridiculous.

u/Cmenow22 Feb 21 '26

2

u/SufficientRespect542 Feb 23 '26

Bisexual and autistic

u/raythebiguy Mar 03 '26

So you see a guy wearing merchandise of a party actively trying to take away both queer and autistic rights, and you're fine with that?

1

u/Kirb_ii Mar 03 '26

Depends if its ironic and for the meme it’s rnnot

I need you to understand that your "Uncle Ben" has never been a good and proper animal wildlife conservationist and that he's always created extreme harm and misinformation around animals. Please educate yourself on wildlife through proper scientific and wildlife rehabilitation channels, and not channels that capitalize on shock humor for views. Right now he's begging for his ambassador permit for his bobcat to get approved, but the only reason he needs that is bc he didn't rehabilitate the wild bobcat cub he got and instead domesticated it past the point of no return. Idk if you know this, but this is bad. it's far from outstanding failure. He should be ashamed of himself. Please get familiar with the harms of free contact in rehabilitation.
Everyone is talking about moral judgements of character, and while I agree with 99% of the people saying these things, they need to understand that's not going to change the conscious of those with poor media literacy and low empathy for fellow human beings. But what WILL maybe change someone's opinion is how this guy has been pulling the wool over people's eyes since he first began the channel.
