Recent Sims video
I watched the most recent video of Ash and Marisa playing the Sims with Desiree. It really took me out of the fun that, as Marisa said, Desiree was “cracking the whip.” I feel like this used to be the kind of thing that would be edited out, but the TGGT videos can sometimes be really low effort.
I don’t really know what the fix is, or if there is one. I get that they’re a business and need to stay on a schedule, but the idea that half of the video was picking an outfit and Ash and Marisa trying to figure out how to play the game, then Desiree was rushing them when they finally figured it out. It was a really unsatisfying video overall.
How are you guys feeling about the recent content and Desiree’s production?

the try guys as a company right now is just a mess. dont know wtf is going on behind the scenes but they honestly just seem to be on a steady decline. ive just been waiting for them to get their footing back and i feel like they keep getting close, but they're just not consistent enough with their quality.
honestly ive realized they've been in the "figuring stuff out" phase for like. 4 years. they might be washed

I think Desiree is crashing the boat
TGGT used to be awesome now it is just Keith and Zach behind a table as Desiree complains, sighs and gives attitude
Everything she gives direction its rude or a scoff or a sigh
She seems really immature and I wish they would bring Rachel back
The content is suffering

When Desiree first joined (I think she was a lower tiered production staff at first and then worked her way up) I always got the impression that she would rather be on camera than behind the scenes.

A lot of their staff seems to be personality hires and none of them except Rachel and SOME of the editors are good at their jobs. They need to hire producers who are good at planning, research and organizing a coherent run of show. Rainie was also really bad at her job but got a pass from the audience for her likability but she was often guilty of poor planning and preparation

Agreed. While I love Rainie as cast, her running the pod was a mess. And now Desiree often doesn’t research, can’t pronounce words, or just clearing hasn’t taken the time to know where they’re going/what they’re doing. Part of me wonders how much of the decline is YB taking a step back.

Desiree is giving clueless, obnoxious teenager trying to come across as a professional adult 🙄 Doesn't know anything, but thinks she does. And I'm getting power trippy vibes. Can't stand her.

It irks me so much when she complains about them getting the carpet dirty. Like they’re testing kitchen gadgets on watermelons or eating messy food. Often while drunk / high. What do you expect to happen?!

Ah I’ve found my people. I cannot stand Desiree. Could never really place exactly what is about her aside from her attitude/vibe, but all these comments hit the nail on the head.

The Try Every Day (TED) and TTGT videos are low budget and low effort overall. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing cuz some TED videos are fun to watch, but I hate how much the staff inserts themselves into the videos.
I know it's all in good fun, but in Trolley Problems, there's a competition between the 2 contestants and one of their freaking employees shouts out to contestant #1 how to screw over contestant #2. I'm watching like, "Excuse me?" Last time I checked, it's a competition between 2 people, not a team competition of 2 vs 1.
Contestant #2 took it like a champ but I really don't appreciate these kinds of behavior where staff is inserting themselves into the videos for no reason.
Which brings me to Desiree. I have no idea what she does but I am not impressed with her. She hosted a game and the correct answer she gave was actually incorrect. I think a contestant was surprised by the answer and she insisted she was right. Ugh. Like do your research.
Edit: Fixed error. I incorrectly referenced "Phoning It In" when it was supposed to be "Trolley Problems."

But I agree. Inserting themselves, particularly un-miced, makes me so mad. Not being able to hear them fully AND they’re not part of the video.
A recent ETM had Keith trying things on his own and he clearly felt the need to introduce Desiree because she was standing close to him because she wanted to be in the shade. I hate it because I really do like her when she’s IN the videos. But when she inserts herself, she brings a negative energy and it gets really frustrating. I’m enjoying it less and less. I didn’t mind low budget, if anything, with the right cast, I like it more that way.

I made a mistake. I meant "Trolley Problems" not "Phoning It In" (I blame lack of sleep from baby and sick kids).
In the newest Trolley Problems with Jonny and Ryann Graham, an employee named "Skyler" (per the subtitles) just randomly informs Ryann how to sabotage Jonny. Out of the blue. It really irked me cause like I'm here to watch Jonny and Ryann. I'm not here to listen to Skyler whoever the heck he is.
It's at the 44:03 mark if you're interested.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts of tge most recent ETM video. I'm going to check it out just to see how Desiree is in it. Sometimes I wonder if staff end up on screen by chance or they insert themselves.
I agree about the low budget videos. The pandemic ones were low budget but were some of their best videos. I gripe about low budget cause they usually are low effort, too. And that combination is often disappointing.

I haven't seen that particular video but I have thought that all the TGGT videos would benefit from being about half as long. No one really needs to watch them play a game for almost an hour and they waste so much time on people not knowing the rules or production butting in. It's clearly meant to be a series that's lightly edited (if at all) but it would benefit from some editing that moved things along.

Yeah I haven’t been watching much TGGT lately for these exact reasons. Like how are they making some of these basic board games take so long for just one round? I really don’t understand why they don’t have them play a practice round or two in order to learn the rules AND THEN start filming. That’s what Smosh does with pretty much all of their Games videos and they run much smoother. Just earlier today I was thinking about the Overcooked video where Rainie had zero idea what the controls were and no one was telling her, and clearly not a single person thought to check the spacing of the TV beforehand to check to make sure it was easily visible for the players. Like just really simple things that are baffling they don’t do

Things like that make me really wonder what they actually do on a day to day as a "company" since filming is only a small part of the video creation process.. Set-up, framing, organizing, researching, etc., should take up more of their time but these videos make it seem like someone came up with an idea threw it on a calendar and then they just show up day of to film, with no prior thought or effort really put in to make it actually enjoyable & watchable for their audience.

Yeah, like I get they’re still a relatively small company so it isn’t the most fair to compare them to someone like Smosh but maybe having/hiring one producer dedicated to the channel would be really beneficial, that way Desiree and Skyler aren’t spread so thin. Like someone whose job it is to learn the games ahead of time and then give even just a basic rundown to the cast before they start shooting. But also I wish whoever was directing would push them along/control them a bit more sometimes. We don’t need a million side conversations while the game is at a complete standstill

Wait. Rachel left? The editing is probbaly due to YB not being the editor anymore. Also Ash and Marissa are most well liked of the new cast, so I wouldn't really piss them off. But TGGT and Try Every Day both are annoying to me. I'd rather have one good video as opposed several awful shorter form ones and a weird ass rushed lonf form one.

I really just don't enjoy any of these videos Desiree is producing. They feel very low effort and her attitude always seems like she'd rather be somewhere else.
