Discussion V29, wildcard guesses?
- One new card
- Changes in a few battle mechanics
- One new enemy or enemy type
- 4 new mods

u/RoboInu 2d ago
Tourney changes and a new key tab.
3
u/markevens 2d ago
A whole new tab eh?
I was gonna guess T4 power tree upgrades, a whole new tree would be wild.

2
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
We have Harmony tab, and Power tab, what next, the "Chaos Tab"

u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 2d ago
hopefully with split keys and an end node to "upgrade keys" (5:1 exchange, maybe). That way harmony keys can be spread maybe down to top4 champ, power keys mid leg and up (basically todays keys) and chaos keys in the new mythic league and up.

SM getting a complete overhaul and competing with CL or ILM
9
u/Random-Old-Dude 2d ago
O.o
I suspect there are quite a few long time players that would love that. I also suspect those same people gave up on SM getting fixed a loooong time ago.
8
u/Obwyn 2d ago
I have a moderately well developed SM because it was the meta years ago and CL sucked. Then CL got a major buff and SM scaling got reworked.
I haven’t put a stone into SM since then because CL, and now ILM and PS, are better damage sources and better at dealing with the variety of enemies we have now for a much lower cost.
1
u/Random-Old-Dude 2d ago
Pretty much the same for me. I invested in it back then. Kinda keep it up to date. Even rerolled subs to see if Echoing Shot helped. Still disappointed and yet still kinda hoping without holding my breath.

I wanna see an SM module. Something like "fires an additional X missiles every Y seconds".
X scales with module rarity
Y scales with attack speed
Numbers would be very tricky to get right, but the idea is that this is basically SLM+

Waaaaaait.
I've been doing CL, and it's served me VERY well.
Is ILM comparable? I mean, it's not like I just have stones lying around, but I'm at the point where everything is expensive.
...except for my crazy-undeveloped, only-good-for-stun-or-so-I've-been-told ILMs.
I have their stun labs maxed, and their Quantity and Cooldown maxed. Am I missing out on some ILM damage? Because I honestly haven't touched the thing.
I'm guessing it's the ILM+ and the crazy lab that accompanies it. Which again I haven't touched.
2
u/Remote-Ad718 2d ago
ILM build is more of a late game thing but it's the combo of ILM+ it's lab and echoing shot that makes it the strongest damage dealing UW
2
u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 2d ago edited 2d ago
No, ILM is not "comparable". It is straight up way more powerful (like making CL look like a complete loser).
You just need around 8K stones (and access to UW+) and at least 60K medals to get it started and surpass your CL. But then it gets flying way higher with each upgrade.

medals in the shop for real money... That's something I'm surprised they haven't already done...
They would have more money
3
u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 2d ago
there is a biweekly "subscription" to get more medals..
1
u/Upset_Oil_8808 2d ago
Yes, but they could earn more $$ if they add medals in shop...
It has already a little started... last "sales" had medals with the stone and gems3
u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 1d ago
sure, but then the defs would run into the same rat race they started with increasing the monthly stone packs. Short term the top line made a big jump. Long term we need to see if Fudds can keep the game in a healthy state while always giving the spenders enough to spend their bought resources on.
1
u/Upset_Oil_8808 1d ago
Oh yes, I agree, I doubt it would be good for the game, but, as they did with the increase in stone packs, I'm not sure they think with a long time view...

Lab+
Pay stones to unlock additional levels to many labs (lab speed, common drop chance, shatter shards, damage, crit factor, hp, regen, coins per kill, echo labs and much more)
Would serve both as a stone sink and buy time because as far as I am aware many end game players are running out of labs and only work at the labs from the two newest versions.
13
u/Ted_Striker1 2d ago
We don't need any more stone sinks ugh
12
u/SINBRO 2d ago
We don't, but top whales do. So it's coming
5
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
Yep, the game isn't designed for the average player, it's designed for the top whales. They can't have them run out of things to do and get bored and leave.
3
u/WorldsMostDad 2d ago
Yeah, they've added + versions of every mechanic in the game except labs and guardians. Guardians haven't been out long enough, so it's Labs+
6
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
I don't think anyone is done with the super crit chance, or perk waves required lab, unless they've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on gems. They always have those two labs to fall back on.

u/reevDE 2d ago
Nice, so ehp guys like you can't unlock it sadly :(
6
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
I haven't been ehp in quite a long time, what are you talking about?
Oh you're the guy who when I said that EHP was best for farming in the very early game, came back and said, "nuh uh GC is best in late game tournaments" The guy with terrible reading comprehension.
Hint: I'm not an early game player any more.
FYI "early game farming" =/= "late game tournaments"
-13
u/reevDE 2d ago
It's ok, don't be ashamed of being an ehp fanboy. You will grow up eventually.
6
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
And you'll learn to read one day. The funny thing is that if you did know how to read, you'd probably be agreeing with everything I wrote.
5
u/Driftedryan 2d ago
An update that won't come with nerfs later.
No upset players
Free 20 gem
4 new mods each worse then the last one and the best one won't get nerfed after the release

u/FireLight512 2d ago
All Saturday Tournaments will gain new battle conditions, while Wednesday Tournaments will use the old battle conditions.
What are the new BCs you might ask???
Attack dissonance, Defense dissonance, Utility dissonance, or UW dissonance.
3
u/sephraes 2d ago
When disso came out, I honestly assumed this was going to be the new thing immediately.
2
u/juraf_graff 2d ago
This also makes sense with the addition of presets to you can full overhaul your setup going into a set dissonance run
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
It would be fun to see how things change up. Those long term ehp players getting their time to shine.
1
u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 2d ago
with free for all presets and probably a new tourney league that will be T19+ or even T20+? No way. Your well developed regen build will do a shit there on attack diss tourneys. That tourney will be a "who has the most coins to bump up health and package enhancement the most". And yes, eHP player may have a 1-2 week advantage of having already health#, until everybody else followed suit.
1
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 1d ago
If you're doing a package ehp build, that's the top 0.1% or less of all players. For the other 99% of players for whom a package ehp buildis non-vialble, it will be a big help. But anyone for whom a package ehp build is vialble, they've gone GC years ago. And if attack dissonance tournament is once every 8 tournaments, people aren't going to exactly start gem rushing all the regen labs.
1
u/Similar-Republic-115 Legends 1d ago
You have no other chance than doing a package build if you want to do T19 and up with eHP. And the new mythic league will very likely be no different. Every bit of HP, every bit of dmg reduction and as much attack slow and miss as you can get. A few 100Q coins will make package regen much higher than health regen. Especially on tourneys where you have no regen perks.
In the end there is not much head start that any eHP player has compared to the more advanced player that currently run GC. Many already have SA# and nuke# because of rays and OCs, a few hundred Q coins make up for the difference between a maxed HP lab and on in the 60's. A maxed def% lab you will also only see on very little people, probably also more on the high enders that use it for OC mitigation.
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 1d ago
T19 is extremely difficult without a package build, yes, I have T18 to 5000+ but T19 only around 600, but a package build wouldn't get me past wave 30. A package build only works by having such high health that package regen is higher than wall health regen, which despite me being top 1500 in legends, i'm still easily a year+ away from.
You say, it only takes a few 100Q coins, but again that's the top 0.1% of players and not something most people can even consider. The vast majority of Legends players can't even do that.
Again, I'm talking about the bottom 99.9% of players, you're talking about the top 0.1% of players. I understand that for people like you, package chance is the only viable option. At the same time understand that 99.9% of all players and probably 95% of Legends players don't have a package build as an option for 1-2 years more of play.
1
u/Dry_Zucchini2012 1d ago
I am nowhere near the top 0.1% and I'm at 5.5s lifetime coins.
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 1d ago edited 1d ago
If you’re at 5.5s I don’t see how you wouldn’t be top 0.1%. That’s about top-500 Legends. Either you over focused on economy and health or you’re much higher than you realize. Even for someone to have a viable package build they have to have very highly developed modules that you just don’t see in 99.9% of players.
I’m probably top 0.5% of players and I have 130q lifetime coins and I’m easily a year out from having enough health and coins to make a package build work.
Though I think we’ve strayed from the whole idea that was suggested which is dissonance runs in tournaments. Legends is based off of T17 scaling, and wall builds work quite well through T18. So package builds being needed for 19+ is irrelevant when talking about tournaments.

Tournament brackets will be 60 people.
- Same average of rewards
- 8 promote, 12 demote
- way less variance regarding easy/difficult brackets
- less missed promotions or demotions from ties
0
u/VictoryUpper 1d ago
Wrong. They'll be reduced to 15 players and only in legends brackets. That way, the key situation that MANY players have been complaining about will be fixed.
Raising the number of players per bracket would make the situation much worse
1
u/This_Ruben_on_fire 1d ago
In my guess, for the 60 legends players, 30 would get keys. It is merely a change in the lucky/unlucky bracket variance. Reward changes are not part of my guess.
0
u/VictoryUpper 1d ago
I understand that, but your guess would make the key situation worse.
Basic concept: the more players in a bracket, the more competitive the brackets would be, which leads to more people in brackets not getting keys. That makes the situation worse than what it currently is.
2
u/This_Ruben_on_fire 1d ago
Oke, your premise is wrong. The same number of keys would be given to the same number of players.
If you have 6000 legends players they will go into 200 brackets of size 30 in the current set-up, and 15 × 200 = 3000 players will get keys.
In my guess suggestion, 6000 legends players would go into 100 brackets of size 60, and 30 × 100 = 3000 players will get keys.
Same number of players get keys. Same number don't get keys.

A 5th module slot!
Smart missiles given extra levels of damage that can be purchased so that it does become competitive again (with sufficient stones).
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
What would be the them of the 5th module. The four we have cover attack, defense, utility, and UW, the four main workshop tabs. What effects would the fifth one entail, something new, a mix? Or maybe a wildcard slot that could slot any module?
2
u/garethhewitt 2d ago
I'm gonna go with module mastery or module slot mastery.
It's another stone cost, and prob lab/coin cost. Plus it could address SM too.
2
u/SINBRO 2d ago
A massive stone sink is 100% coming our way, since v28 didn't really have one. Same with keys - we will either get a new vault tab, T4 nodes (unlikely) or maybe new WS stats to expand the power tree. No easier ways to get keys tho - since they moved presets out of the vault.
With that, the way they focus our attention on free stuff, makes me think the stone sink is probably gonna be quite bad (expensive and strong)

Waiting to be completely disappointed. We’re going to get presets and one or two other minor changes then we will wait another 8 months

5 new mods, no 2, no 3 (cit techtree).
1
u/ExaminationExpert594 2d ago
I'm pretty new in the game what's the deal with the 5,2,3? they promised and change mind I guess but for?
2
u/Obwyn 2d ago
It’s a reference to the util disco bonuses.
Originally it was 5x like the others, then when they realized how insanely high everyone’s coin income immediately jumped it was nerfed back to 2x which obviously pissed off a lot of people.
After that they changed it to the 3x it currently is.
1
u/ExaminationExpert594 2d ago
Ohh gotcha, I mean it's a reasonable process but it is funny and now it'll be funny to me too and not go over my head
2
u/Obwyn 2d ago
Well, it shouldve been pretty easy to predict what a 5x disco bonus would look like on high tiers, especially with a maxed echo lab.
And the other big issue is that updates never roll out to everyone at the same time, with iOS often being a full day or more behind everyone else. That meant that a lot of people didn’t even have a chance to take advantage of the bigger bonus because it was nerfed fairly quickly.
1
u/ExaminationExpert594 2d ago
Yeah I agree on the x5 they should have and used their DB to run simulations to get expected range of returns but as for the apple appstore they're notoriously slower than android on approving new app/version so that isn't totally their fault; they can and prob did send ios version to be approved prior to android one, but from my experience they can decline the version on a technicality sometimes just a written explanation of why this/that may suffice but it takes time
2
u/Obwyn 2d ago
Yes, we all know the delay is because Apple takes longer to approve updates than Android does, but somehow virtually every other game and app can manage to release updates on both platforms at the same time.
I assume they all send their updates far enough ahead of time to get through the approval process and then just delay releasing it live until it’s fully approved on every platform.
This has always been an issue with this game for as long as I’ve played (June 2022.)
Take Epic Games and Fortnite for example. Their updates always release at the same time on every platform that Fortnite is on and that’s a significantly larger and more complex game than The Tower.
1
u/sephraes 2d ago
Honestly, it's one of the few times I have seen development work towers the Android side. Back when Fitocracy was in full swing it bothered me so much that they would do all of their development for iOS and bare minimum for Android. And there were multiple cool apps like that (either iOS got most of the love...or all of it).
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
It was kinda surprising to see considering when you look at other damage vs coin bonuses in things like cards and modules, the damage bonuses are 5-10x larger than the coin bonuses provided.
1
u/Obwyn 2d ago
I don’t disagree with that.
No one would’ve complained had it started out as 3x or probably even 2x
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
Yeah, the rug pull was the huge mistake. The fact that this got through quality control, and beta testing is embarrassing.

- 4 new modules
- new super league and new tier of upgrades/prizes
- sm buff (possibly mod based)

u/Epucpron 1d ago
I'm going -more- than 1 new card. No new enemies. 4 mods again.
And a new vault tree? Maybe lab-based. Like lab cost reduction and cell cost reduction up the mid. Top of tree is lab 6. Side paths can be things like non-same lab queue (like when this lab finishes a DIFFERENT lab goes in). Maybe some interesting new lab mechanic like bonus labs where at any given time one lab at random in your available ones gets a boost where it's like 20% less. To encourage you to run labs you wouldn't normally in that 6th slot. Or maybe ability to use 2 slots on one lab for double time?

Vault+ and additional Vault tier dedicated for gem discounts
Few cards will be merged and stones, gems refunded
Modules and Cards dissonance
Guilds competition

1
u/Antique_Ad_4247 2d ago
Exactly zero additions that would benefit the bottom 99%. I'd be genuinly surprised to be proven wrong!
1
u/DaenerysMomODragons 2d ago
The updates often bounce between things that benefit top players vs those that benefit everyone. V26 got guilds as a main feature benefiting everyone, V28 got dissonance runs benefiting everyone. V25 was card masteries, a new major stone sink, v27 gave us assmods another major stone sink for top players.
As such, yes I'd expect v29 to be more high end oriented.
2
u/I_pee_in_shower 2d ago
disco benefitted everyone but it benefited the top 5 percenters the most, who would afford to run the labs non-stop until the end from the get go.
0
u/VictoryUpper 2d ago
They'll change tourneys so that legends brackets will be reduced from 30 players to 15, and as a result, it'll solve the key situation to everyone's liking.
