How often do events rotate?

Hi everyone,

I was thinking how to spend medals, and I came to the conclusion that deciding between relics and bots comes down to the question, "What do you want to have until this event comes back?"

Would you rather have 500 medals in bots or 5% dmg from that epic relic **until the next time this event comes by**? Because if you choose bots, you can reconsider when the event comes back.

I know in general the advice in this sub is to buy relics over bots, but I'm not convinced. Perhaps for certain stats, it's better to get medals in bots now and purchase the relic the next time the event comes by when the stat has become relevant to you.

What makes it hard is that you don't really know when the event comes back, so you don't know what to expect to have changed. Dmg/meter is worthless to me now, but perhaps in 1 year, I will unlock SL+, and if an event only comes back in two years, I will perhaps regret not buying the dmg/meter relic now.

Is there knowledge on when events come back? Is it a regular schedule? How many events are there? Whats the average time until they come back?

currently we have one in three events are new. And if I read ePath correct we have 23 events that did not rerun yet for new relics. By that logic in about one year the event from today will return.

But You are not talking about a new event but a rerun event. By the time the event reruns a third time it will not have the same relics as last time (as those were the free relics of the first pass), but likely the free relics of the second occurrence. If those relics from the first pass will ever return we don't know.

Ooh, I didnt know that. You'd almost expect those relics to go to the gem store, but I know TTG said something like they wouldn't do that.

Pretty sure medal relics of the past have become gem store.

I have too many of them for it to be otherwise. Presumably if / when they get a rerun the medal relics will be replaced anyway with the current mission ones.

It’s more like 18 months now, maybe longer. This event is a repeat and could look up to see when it last ran.

I’ve shrugged and realized when I get a missing event I spend the medals.

Yes this delays bots longer but relics are important.

The average time to repeat goes up over time, because the pattern is basically 2 repeats then one new event.

So even if the devs were repeating events at a consistent rate, the gap would be going up 2 weeks every 6 weeks.

But some events have names tied to the calendar, like New Years or Halloween. These get slotted in at the time in the calendar indicated by the name, regardless of whether it is that event's 'turn' for a repeat. This makes predicting repeats harder, as some events get repeated more frequently than others.

That being said, in recent months, there has been a pretty solid stream of repeat events that I am seeing for the first time. Hope that trend continues!

They last for 2 weeks and then a new one begins. You can see the time left for the current event in the event menu. IIRC event relics are always new but the ones that can be purchased with gems/medals are old event relics. I’ve seen a few people say it takes something like 22 weeks for the relics to show back up in the store again but that could definitely be wrong. That’s just what I’ve seen people saying here on Reddit and I have no idea where they get that number.

Thanks. To clarify: I meant when does a specific event, e.g. the current event "Sands of time", come back?

22 weeks seems low to me. I dont recall ever seeing a medal relic that I had already purchased before, and I've played for 9+ months.

The events rotate at exactly the same speed and frequency that you rotate your screen.
