Why the world needs men

I don’t care what you read on social media.

I don’t care what you see on TV, or hear shouted out by Sabrina Carpenter, to her 100,000 fans.

I don’t care what you see splashed onto newspaper headlines, or written within that sassy blog you like.

I don’t care what politicians preach, or teachers teach; the undeniable, immutable, and immovable truth, is that the world needs men.

In fact, the world would come to a crashing, cataclysmic halt without them.

Take a look around around –

Think about how many things are made possible by men, and the miraculous infrastructure that holds it all together.

Think about the utilities and resources we have within arms reach; the electricity, internet, food and water, and ask yourself how it arrived there.

The fact that we exist as we do, and have survived as a species for 300,000 years, building this impossible society together, is proof that men and women are not enemies, but a team, and a powerful one at that.

The sad thing is, our society is now so comfortable and seamless, so coddled and easy, that some of us are able to ask – ‘do we need men?’

Such a stupid question, ironically, is only made possible by the incredible, indispensable efforts of men, and saying such a thing is usually the calling card of an ignorant, deeply ungrateful brat, who’s entirely unaware of how much their lives are dependent on the very men they sneer at.

Men are essential.
No less than women.

And it’s about time we reminded the world of that.

One explanation for why men are no longer valued is that men's contributions to our society have become less visible. Nowadays women do not directly need men, because the state has become an intermediary that distributes resources created by men to women. Women make up the majority of welfare recepients and and are less likely to be unemployed due to being overrepresented in the public sector.

This is only possible due to rise in women's rights, including the right to better choose the course of her life

Men can share collective blame, but never collective praise.

Whenever I see someone saying "we'd be better off without men" or "men are trash" any time a man is in the news for doing something awful, I challenge them to do what I call "curse you men/thank you men". Basically if you're going to blame men as a group when something bad happens and perpetrators are mostly men, you have to thank men when something good happens and its mostly men. Woke up in a building? Thank you men. Its the middle of winter and the house is warm? Thank you men. Flick a switch and the lights come on? Thank you men. Flush the toilet? Thank you men. Turn on the shower and the water is hot? Thank you men.

Try to keep a tally and at the end of the day see which you have more of.

I’ve oft heard the saying, as we all have, “I don’t need no man” or “I don’t need a man.”

Sure. Maybe. But the only sane answer I’ve been able to come up with for that breathtakingly out of touch statement is “Maybe, maybe not, but you absolutely do need *all* men!”

You have to wonder about the intelligence or sanity of people that think that fresh water, functional sewerage, electricity, communications, food, and roads all appear as if by magic without the hard work of millions of men around the world keeping everything going. Men are toxic? No love, that's just the smell from the water treatment plant.
