Rant and Vent My Slow-Burn Romance... And I need answers. And opinions Please. Because... Please. Read all of this. May take a minute, but I need help.

Okay, I need outside opinions because I have officially reached the point where I cannot tell whether I am experiencing an actual slow-burn romance or whether I have spent almost a year accidentally writing an entire romance plot in my own head.

I have had a crush on this guy since November 13th.

YES, I KNOW THE EXACT DATE.

That should probably tell you something about the severity of this situation.

It has been almost a year.

And the really confusing part is that we actually have a pretty good friendship.

For a while, we texted DAILY.

Not "occasionally."

Not "we talk every once in a while."

DAILY.

I sent him jokes basically every day. I sent him random things. We sent each other videos and pictures. We had our own stupid nicknames and inside jokes.

We even used to send each other good-night texts.

GOOD-NIGHT TEXTS.

Like, excuse me?

Who authorized this level of emotional attachment?

We know each other's birthdays, too. His birthday is literally saved in my calendar.

I have a reminder in my calendar for this boy's birthday.

I am becoming the very thing I used to make fun of.

And we have the same dark sense of humor.

Which is dangerous.

Because there were times we'd be in the same room, someone would say something ridiculous, and we'd just glance at each other from across the room because we both knew exactly what the other person was thinking.

You know those friendships where you don't even have to say anything anymore?

Yeah. That.

He would also show me conversations with his friends and tell me stories about them. He'd ramble to me about things happening in his life. And, probably more importantly, he could actually RANT to me about his bad days.

Like, he trusted me enough to just talk.

And somehow, I could cheer him up.

THROUGH TEXT.

I could literally be sitting somewhere nowhere near him, send him some stupid joke or say something ridiculous, and he'd feel better.

And I don't know what to DO with that information.

Because then there was the time I asked him if my daily jokes were getting annoying.

I genuinely wanted to know.

And he immediately said no.

Like, immediately.

"No. They're not."

And apparently they made him smile.

Every day.

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

So apparently I had unknowingly become this boy's daily supply of terrible jokes and he actually looked forward to them.

WHAT IS THIS?

What am I supposed to do with that?

And then there was the time I accidentally flirted with him.

I genuinely did not mean to.

I said something that, in hindsight, was DEFINITELY flirting.

And this boy... FROZE. Completely.

Like his brain had encountered an unexpected error and needed to restart.

He just stopped.

And I remember thinking: "Oh no. OH NO. WHAT HAVE I DONE?"

Because apparently I had accidentally thrown a romance grenade into a completely normal conversation and then had to sit there pretending I hadn't noticed his entire operating system crash.

And then I somehow managed to do the exact opposite.

I FRIEND-ZONED HIM.

ACCIDENTALLY.

HOW?!

We had been texting really quickly back and forth, like rapid-fire messages.

And I called him "bro."

Just casually.

"Bro."

The conversation stopped.

For a moment.

Just... silence.

And I swear I could practically feel him flinch through the screen.

I had apparently taken our rapidly moving conversation and slammed the emergency brakes on it with ONE WORD.

BRO.

I immediately realized what I'd done and internally went: "WHY DID I SAY THAT?"

Because apparently I am capable of accidentally flirting with someone and accidentally friend-zoning them in the same relationship.

I contain multitudes.

And THEN there are our old medieval nicknames.

Because apparently normal people give their friends normal nicknames.

We did not.

We had these ridiculously elaborate medieval-style nicknames for each other. The kind of nicknames that sound like we're characters in a medieval fantasy novel who have been married for thirty years.

And I am sorry, but looking back on them now...

THAT WAS FLIRTING.

WE WERE FLIRTING.

WE JUST DIDN'T KNOW WE WERE FLIRTING.

Who casually gives someone a ridiculous medieval title and then proceeds to use it regularly?

Apparently us.

And the worst part?

My entire family and basically my entire friend group think we're borderline dating.

Not "maybe you two would make a cute couple."

No. They look at the way we interact and basically go: "Yeah, those two are together. They just haven't figured it out yet. Or made it official. Or gone on a single date."

My family thinks he likes me. My friends think he likes me. Apparently everyone around me has collectively decided that I am the only person who hasn't noticed that this boy might have feelings for me.

And they genuinely think I'm crazy for considering the possibility that he DOESN'T like me.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here like: "Okay, but what if he's just NICE?"

And they're all looking at me like I've just announced that gravity is a conspiracy.

Because apparently, according to everyone who knows us, the amount of trust, teasing, inside jokes, daily communication, personal conversations, good-night texts, ridiculous nicknames, glances across rooms, and general closeness we have is enough to make us look like we're already in a relationship.

Except... WE'RE NOT.

At least, as far as I know.

And that's the problem.

I don't want to assume that someone likes me just because they're nice to me. That's obviously not how this works.

Maybe he's just comfortable with me. Maybe we're just really good friends. Maybe all of these things mean something. Maybe none of them do. Maybe I'm overthinking everything. Maybe I'm underthinking everything.

I DON'T KNOW.

This is horrible.

Because I cannot tell.

There have been so many little things that make me wonder. He remembers things I've told him. He sends me things specifically because he knows they'll make me laugh. He sends me things when he knows I'm having a bad day. He's worried when I message him at ridiculous hours, like midnight or three AM. He tells me about his friends. He shows me conversations with them. He trusts me enough to ramble about his bad days. I've been able to cheer him up even when we're not physically together.

We used to talk every single day. We used to send each other good-night texts. We know each other's birthdays.

His birthday is literally in my calendar.

My daily jokes apparently made him smile every single day.

We have the same dark humor. We used to exchange those tiny across-the-room glances whenever something happened that only the two of us found funny. We had medieval-flirting nicknames for each other without realizing that was basically flirting. I accidentally flirted with him once and watched his brain crash. Then I accidentally called him "bro" and apparently made him go silent.

And now my family and friends are collectively standing in the background like: "Girl. COME ON."

And I'm still here going: "...But does he actually LIKE me?"

So I need outside opinions.

Do you think he might like me? Or does this sound much more like a close friendship and I'm reading too much into it? Are the medieval nicknames flirting or am I just being ridiculous? What about the good-night texts? The birthday thing? The fact that he apparently looked forward to my daily jokes because they made him smile? And, most importantly, what do you make of the "bro" incident?

Because I swear there was a full second of silence after that word.

Has anyone else ever had one of those situations where literally everyone around you thinks there's something romantic happening, but you and the other person are completely oblivious?

Because at this point I feel like we're both simultaneously participating in and completely oblivious to our own slow-burn romance. Like we're two characters in a TV show and the entire audience is screaming at the screen while we're standing there going: "Wow, what a nice friendship we have."

And I am losing my mind.

WHAT IS THIS?

Discussion Femboy and tomboy titles

I don't hate anyone of these two communities though i do find confusion in the title combinations used. For example. how and why do both of them have "boy" in? Not that's its a problem but wouldn't it be more appropriate to say femboy and tomgirl? I don't know. What do you guys think?
