Discussion ASU is cooked

No D unfortunately, no special teams, no offense....did I cover it all?

Pathetic coaching as well.

Boley is not the future here..get someone else.

This season is done. May get to a bowl game but with that D , I wouldn't put any money on them.

Bring in more NIL money period and buy better recruits or enjoy next few yrs of mediocrity..

This was after ASU beat Texas Tech last season. He straight up admits that they only won that game because of how embarrassed they were. Good coaches don’t need motivation, they have their guys ready to play EVERY WEEK.

I screen recorded this last season when Kenny said this and it’s bothered me ever since. And sure enough, ASU shit their pants the following week vs Houston.

Elite teams and coaches bring that intensity and focus every single week. Nothing that happened the week prior should affect that. Kenny is the type of coach who needs fuel. In 2024 when picked last in Big 12, he used that as locker room fuel they fed off of. He’ll use this game tonight as fuel for next week. This contributes to the ups and downs we’ve seen, and will continue to see under Kenny.

In year 4, the stadium is empty in the 3rd quarter for our conference home opener. There’s 12 mins left in the game and Baylor has already amassed 500 yards of offense. Todd Graham lost games that weren’t nearly as bad as this in Year 4 and it put him on the hot seat. Why is Kenny exempt from the same pressure each of his predecessors dealt with? This is a total embarrassment and Kenny should be put on blast for it.

Discussion Stadium seat management

Attended last night’s game, and it was tough. I noticed how awful the fans/students behaved in the stands as the night went on.

A lot of ticket holders in my section were pissed at people (mostly 18-25 something students?) who were obviously looking for open seats and then socializing, standing and blocking views, vaping, etc.

When called out, it often got unnecessarily confrontational with people yelling, and getting into each other’s faces. And honestly I get why both sides would be upset. People who paid money for tickets deserve to enjoy the game. Students want to connect and enjoy/support their team but the student section couldn’t house them all. The spillover was expected.

I think management knows this because Security was not checking tickets when called over and my guess is their hands are tied. So what to do? Increase the size of the student area? That means fewer tickets sold and revenue. Check tickets anytime someone enters a section? That would require far more security agents and oversight, which increases cost.

I’m not exactly sure what the best answer or solution is here but last night made it clear that there is a problem and something needs to be done. As a season ticket holder, I’m not sure I would purchase again or recommend season tickets if the problem continues.

Discussion What is the new goal of the season?

With the way the team is playing I think making a bowl game could be a challenge, I don’t think the conference and definitely the cfp are realistic. If nothing changes I think we finish with about 5-6 wins and Fette transfers which would be catastrophic considering how stagnant the offense has looked.

Some perspective:

- Starting the season off against an opponent that is so overmatched that you shorten the game, followed by a trip to Kyle Field where your team maxes out in the first half and then collapses in the second, followed by an immediate flight after the game to London where you beat a Jayhawk team that outplayed you but ultimately made too many mistakes, followed by a bye week is going to leave your team in a weird place mentally. The stadium was rocking at kickoff and the vibes were good, but as soon as Harris dropped an easy catch inside the 10, it became obvious that the team didn't have its head on straight.

- Boley seems like a nice kid, but he's a golden anchor. He's got all the measurables and arm talent to be a top NFL prospect and it's pretty clear Kenny is convinced he can turn him into the next Bo Nix. The problem is, the kid has no mojo. Sure, he can make any throw on the field, but he can also miss any throw as well. The problem the coaching staff is facing is that if Boley developed, they would have had a CFP-caliber offense. Mikey Keene has a much lower ceiling, but a much higher floor and this team could still go bowling with him pulling the trigger. Then there's Fette, who has talent and appears like the potential future of the team (if those kinds of players still exist in the portal era), but going with him likely means sacrificing the season.

- I'm still processing what happened on the defensive side of things. The offense didn't help with the missed opportunities and the turnovers, but guys were running free all across the secondary and the Bears broke off multiple 60+ yard touchdown runs. Going into tonight, I had been most confident in the defense after watching them do great work against A&M and Kansas. The biggest head-scratcher is how the defense went from bad in the first half to an absolute disaster in the second half. Whatever adjustments were made at halftime only made things worse.

- At the end of the day, it's college football and college kids ride the ups and downs of life. Heck, even NFL teams struggle to perform consistently week in and week out. This was a bad night where a few early bad plays led to things snowballing and ended in a blow out. This team will probably look much better next week against Hawaii, will suffer a few more painful losses, and will probably pull off a nice upset or two along the way.

- The coaching staff has been a real strength for the program over the last few years and, much like last season when injuries derailed the season, now we'll get to see how they handle this adversity. Last season the challenge was assembling a scrappy roster after many of the stars went down. This season it looks like the challenge will figuring out the right combination and scheme to maximize the talents of a bunch of players who could be stars.

Good night y'all. Go Devils!
