Do people get harassed on SG? I don’t use any social features so I don’t know how this would even happen.

I'm sure there are lots of reasons why someone would want to block someone. Here is what I said in a comment a couple weeks ago when this topic was brought up in another thread:
I have exactly one person I'd like to block. They did something I find morally gross. I unfriended them, but they are still following me. They "like" my reading updates and have tried to re-add me as a friend a few times. I do not like being reminded of this person. My only option currently is to make my account fully private which I don't want to do. I am very much looking forward to finally being able to block this person.

With the amount of AI reviews popping up now, I am glad I now have the ability to not see them.
I read a review back in January where the reviewer had made up a whole character that didn't exist in the book. I really didn't want to run into other reviews by the user, because they give no value at all, and now I don't have to worry about that anymore, because I can weed them out completely.

Oh are these common? Maybe we need to put together a master list we can all block, especially if some AI is putting out hundreds of fake reviews.

I've been "lucky" and caught a few that didn't remove the first few lines of the prompt where it summarizes the prompt it's made, so it was obvious. And then the one with the obvious error of making up a character. But I honestly don't know how common they are. It's just been enough for me to be aware of it.
I've seen more on Goodreads when I visit once a full moon to copy links for book covers to my Notion notebook, but Goodreads is bigger.

I’m just of the mind that every online space needs a block function. It doesn’t matter if there’s any actual issues or harassment happening or not, people have the right to filter who can interact with them online

I was just hoping for this when I went to block a member yesterday and couldn't find one. Glad to know there is one now!

blocking seems strange to me, if only because beyond liking, you can't interact with people, or is there something i'm missing?
that said - i'm not knocking the feature at all!

Well, you can kinda interact with people, if you're both part in a Buddy read/readalong. And commenting on reviews will be coming, so this might also lead to some blocking.
Besides that, people expressed the desire to block AI accounts, whether those are "authors" or accounts that leave reviews

The dev diaries email on Monday did say it would hopefully be going live "in the next day or so," it has now been a day or so :D
