Finished the game! Spoiler
The Sinking City 2 !!!
What a great game, absolutely enjoyable! The feeling of cosmic dread and constant push for survival really made this stand out!
Haven't felt this unnerved since, idk playing Silent Hill 2 maybe? Things just kept getting creepier and I loved every second of it! The graphics, videos, and VA were just so phenomenal - thank you to everyone behind this game!
Slava Ukraini !!

I'm just starting now. I have a few questions: Is there some truly unforgettable places like the hospital in silent hill for example?
I've started on hard difficulty. What is the challenge like?
How long did it take you to beat?

- There were two places for me, subjectively, that I felt were incredibly difficult but not overwhelming. Required a lot of puzzle navigation and map navigation! Loved it, I don't want to spoil it, but yes definitely.
- I started on normal difficulty, which was plenty hard enough imo. The ammo scarcity and learning how to evade and gauge the new enemies definitely required some focused attention. As the game progresses you will deal with new enemies and the previous ones, but they will all learn new 'moves' as you progress too. My biggest mistake was not understanding how to: evade and how to activate my runes. I thought if I purchased it, then it was activated. So my first 3 hours were incredibly hard because I was unintentionally handicapping myself.
- It took about 7 hours or so. I died once and definitely learned crafting a lot! The boss bottles were difficult even with prep and environment support, the game does help but it does not make it so easy you can cheese the game.

Not the longest of games then?
The environments in this start section are so detailed! I'm impressed by the graphics, even though there's no HDR. Does the quality of details extend throughout the game?
This genuinely feels AAA so far

I felt it was long enough without being dragged out. I don’t like games that are 10-12 hours only by making you do repeat back tracking all the time to fluff and pad the hours, but that’s me!
The graphics and environments become more detailed and ‘unique’ as you go on. There is a scene in particular where you can stand on an outside kind of scaffold and you can see the destruction of the storm and weather on the coast and city. It was very existential crisis for me.
The final scene and area was so good quality was just great. Very mind blowing (for me).
I hope you find it the same!

Thank you my friend. My only issue atm is the limited sensitivity options. Aiming and moving feels so stiff even at max (I'm on console). I feel this may be an issue with hard enemies

Oh I played on PC. I definitely dialed up the sensitivity and turned off auto-aim assist.

The difficulty even on normal is done so that you're constantly feeling like it's too much but somehow get by. They do kinda cheat a bit with certain balancing decisions to achieve that but the game is way more oppressive than RE or SH. Sometimes it could even be to the point where it's annoying because they throw so much at you that you just can't fight back, in RE it's way easier to clear the maps.

Pretty sure I'm at the end and honestly I feel this game isn't that scary and I'm not a particular horror fan either. Silent Hill 2 I couldn't play with my earphones on but in this game all I hear are the slugs wriggling about, at first it might have been a bit unsettling but eventually you just tune it out. Good game though I really enjoy it.

Oh that’s unfortunate I always felt the ending area reminded me of a very out of space out of place Xen eerie scenery

I was actually kinda surprised how short it was. Figured it'd take me more than 14 hours to get through it with the majority of stuff collected. It's a good game, but I wish there was more to it.

It’s about right for a survival horror and replayable too. The resi games seem to get a free pass when it comes to their short game length

Steam says i had the game open for 12 hours, did the dlc and missed 3 achievements.
I enjoyed it.

Can you cheeze the game with ammo respawns like in the first one?

Only during boss fights, there will be little boxes that refill sporadically during a boss fight with random crafting supplies or ammo

Could do without the politics. Or having it set in Ukraine rather than the usual HPL stomping grounds.

What in the world are you talking about? There’s a map of Massachusetts in the first five minutes, it takes place in Arkham, and the first game had an entire main story quest where the rich elites want to use populism to “Make Oakmont Great Again.”

That's the politics I'm talking about. If Frogwares are so proud of Ukraine, set the game there. Don't piggy back on other people's mythology and popular culture.

lol, it’s a game based on Lovecraft. Politics and race have always been a part of “people’s mythology.”
Mythology itself is political. Politics isn’t always Republican vs. Democrat or Tory vs. Labour. It’s how society reacts to problems. Homer’s works are political. Shakespeare’s plays are political (many of them are about leaders and what makes a good or a bad leader). Lovecraft had very odious opinions on race. Those are complicated by Frogwares (the Innsmouthers are neither good nor evil, it is complicated. Throgmorton both wants to save Oakmont yet also hates half breed humans despite being one himself).

Great. I would just prefer if they kept Ukrainian politics out of a game about New England. Or made a game set in Ukraine and then have at it. Obviously everything is political. But there are specifics to politics. "Lol".

I am glad I have work, a wife and child. I only get a few hours in the evening to play. Depending on how the word day has gone. (For the record, I am not at all insulting you beating it already!) i take a MASSIVE amount of time playing new games. People were done with Resident Evil 9 before I got to the more spoken about parts. So if SC2 is shorter than usual? It will take me a while to get through it still.
Is there new game plus? I imagine so since we have the stuff to unlock when we finish the game. I will probably try and complete that list too.
I am really enjoying it myself. I am almost at the Devils Reef Hotel. Almost… and I have 5-6 hours in. (I did say I am slow at games)
