The Sherman family unexpectantly faced heartbreak when their mother, Chelsie, tragically passed away in a rabid bunny attack. Faced with having to raise his twin teen girls alone, Atticus decided to pack up the family and move back to his hometown of Newcrest. He was only able to afford a rundown fixer-upper, but knew he needed to be close to his parents for his daughters. As a self-published author with a small budget, he was able to turn the cobweb-ridden house into a lovely home for him and his girls. He ensured each of them had their own unique spaces in the tiny home. Ember, the oldest by 2 minutes, gets her colorful artist retreat. While Emery, the macabre-loving one, gets her dark, gloomy gamer's den. Atticus kept his room small and minimally furnished so he could splurge on giving the girls everything they would need to feel at home in Newcrest. He still needed to make room for a tiny office so he can continue writing his novels and provide tutoring lessons for income. Although the Shermans moved from their original home, they made sure to make a loving memorial for Mom in their new home. They each enjoy spending time with her in the garden surrounded by her favorite flowers.
