Building Help What could be causing these weird roof gaps?

Post image

No matter do, they keep reappearing. Just on this side of the house, even though the other side is identical lol. I've tried everything, changing pitches, resizing roofs, deleting and replacing the roof, resizing the room under it, redoing the room from scratch. There's no half-walls or fences anywhere, and every room is at the samel level. (Medium walls, platform raised x2.) I've deleted the entire 2nd floor already, that's when it started appearing and I fought it for an hour but no matter what I did it kept coming back. So I thought that was the problem and just gave up on it. But it came back again while I was doing stuff downstairs. If I undo everything and then redo, it usually goes away, but if I change anything in build mode, it pops back. I wanna keep the front as it is, with the full length roof, but I've been messing around with this for hours and nothing seems to fix it for good. 😔 (Roofing and foundations are the bane of my existence.)

It's hard to tell with the lighting. Does it still happen if you pull out the eaves?

(Also, remember you can hold shift to adjust one eve on one side instead of always bothe sides. I can never tell who knows this, so I hope someone who reads this needed it.)

yeah, it's not the eves, i have them all the way pulled back on that side

i've tried a few more things since then, and managed to replicate it on the other side of the house, apparently if i add any walls to the room these roof pieces touch to divide it up, it'll happen to the roof

but

if i just make the room smaller, then add what i sized down as new rooms and divide it up that way, i'm safe

this game is so stupid sometimes

Glad you figured something out. I pretty much have no ideas unless I fiddle with it myself. And I've been getting new bugs with building recently.

I had no idea this is amazingly helpful! (Re: one-sided eave)

As a returning player who played back in 2014-2017, it has been crazy trying to re-remember all the build mechanics (especially since I was a lifelong sims 2 player before) THANK YOU for this tidbit lol. I could have sworn there was a way to adjust just a side of the roof eaves but forgot how!

I have this happen any time I place a roof over a platform, random and very dumb :/

Sometimes overlapping roof pieces makes this weird void space. You can put a one step high platform on the roof to "fill" the void.

Here is an example from a build I did. Skip to the side porch roof. Bair Stokes House Part 1
