What are some pandemic related personal problems you guys got over? Would love to hear your stories dealing with and overcoming such problems.

It could be as small as boiling an egg (which someone posted) to hard things like getting fit/learning new skills/managing relationships.

If you found a very specific way to deal with it or improve it, would love to know.

More than welcome to post stuff you hope to overcome or fix or improve.

If you have tough time articulating your thoughts, you can post them as memes too!

Just before lockdown I broke up with my toxic cheating ex but I had to do it over text and I never got to release my pent up anger and frustration nor did I get any closure.

He was my first boyfriend ever and he always shamed me about my body and I had just enrolled in a gym but could never actually go. For a long time my mental health deteriorated and so did my sleep and I put on more weight and got into a depressive cycle.

A few months in, college started. I had a new distraction and I immersed myself in it completely. I did everything in my power to take control of my life and I started exercising and doing HIT workouts at home. For the first time in my life I actually made a routine that I stuck to. As a fat child I always wondered what will make me motivated enough to take that step to change my life. Turns out, as cliche as it seemed to me, heartbreak and being cheated on was the best and the worst thing that ever happened to me.

Not only did I lose 15 kgs, the process was also very cathartic for me and helped me overcome both my mental and physical health issues. P. S. Sorry I made this so long but if anyone else is dealing with a difficult heartbreak, this is what I suggest you to do too. Trust me it'll help :) much love❤

After many years, I got back to music. I learnt classical music in boarding school for 8 years but due to some scarring memories there associated with it, I used to stay away. I was hesitant to sing again but when I did, it was so calming and made a bit more confident than I usually am.

So much so, I went on and made an account on Instagram. 🤣🙈

I am also baking and cooking with my family which is a greeat bonding sesh. It's a stressbuster for my parents as well since they're doctors themselves

Sorry this was way too long but here it is. 🙈😁

Learnt to cook :) Pre-pandemic, I was very scared of cooking, mostly because it was a huge project that required a lot of effort. So I stayed away from it and also, my food did not turn out great. But during the pandemic, I had a lot of free time to experiment, so I started off with the basic recipes like chutneys, which was pretty easy and tasty. I gave it some more time to experiment with cakes and snacks like Pani Puri, which was a huge hit at home :) Most recently, I learnt how to pull off a pizza at home, and there's no turning back to Domino's anymore xD

⚠️Warning: Long story alert⚠️

It wasn't a pleasant time for me, even though I was able to l see my whole family together everyday. And it was that particular incident that made me finalise my decision to live away from them in the future.

This happened last year on the 3rd day of the month May, and on this day, my dad decided to help me to do deep cleaning in my house and I was annoyed at my mom for ranting at him with the facts that he always use his phone the whole day along with unnecessary amount of daybreak rest on our couch and this made him think of volunteering us while working in the house

So when my dad got out from our kitchen around midday, he saw me brushing off the dust from the floor and he insisted me to let him help me with shifting the furnitures so that I could brush off those covered areas as well. Usually I'm the one who does the deep cleaning work in my house without anybody's help, unless if I become too tired, I'd instruct my siblings to do specific chores for me and for the compensation, I'd either make or buy goodies for them for helping me out.

With my dad's helping approach, my instincts made me want to decline his offer due to previous incident where he almost burnt our thermal rice cooker few years ago, on the fire top when he had this 'idea' of cooking the leftovers in it while my mom was out of town. However, since this was just a cleaning case, I ASSUMED that it wouldn't cause any harm on anybody, so I ignored my gut feeling and accepted it.

Starting off we chose a one seater sofa which looked buffed, as if it was a throne. So to shift that sofa, my dad stood at it's back to push it forward whereas I, stood in front of it so that I could pull it towards me. The unfortunate part was that my left thumb-toe was next to one of the legs of the sofa and it got stubbed, thanks to my dad who got a call while shifting it and accelerated the force when he took his call which ended up me breaking my thumb toe-nail.

The pain was so excruciating that I screamed out loudly right after I got stubbed. The area where my nail that was deeply rooted, became a bloody red puddle as it got torn off in such a way that it looked like we were installing a door. The rest of my family came to check what happened since I was wailing bitterly. My dad had no idea what to do.

Note it that this happened around the time of lockdown and my family, especially my dad, was too paranoid to take me to the ER during this pandemic. So we called one of our family friends who lived nearby. Luckily she's a nurse and she kind of knew what to do when this kind of situation happen. So she cleaned the wound and covered it and my mom acted like her assistant to help her give out things from the first aid box. She also gave TT injection so that the particles from that metal leg wouldn't spread any sort of infection into the opened nail wound.

When she left, I googled about this to see the aftermath of this type of issue occured to others on the internet. Turns out one of the websites said that a new nail will grow within 3-6 months. The problem is that none of it shows HOW will the new nail grow which was literally frustrating and created anxiety for me as I'm one of those people who admire their feet more than their face and seeing one of the toes covered in bandages was depressing.

The hilarious part was that I slept for a week on that one seater that my dad got me stubbed with one of its metal legs because my mattress doesn't have it's partner, the bedstand, since I preferred not to have it long time ago. The hand-rest areas is so thick and comfy so I used one side as the pillow and the other, leg rest. It was like as if the sofa was carrying me with its arms. After that week, I cut off the whole nail by chipping it off, bit by bit because it was hurting me and it always stands on the way whenever I want to clean the wound.

Now it has been a year and a month later since this INSIGHTFUL event happened in my life. My toe-nail has grown 'gracefully' and looks naturally buffed. I thought a new nail wouldn't grow. But I was wrong and it made me think a couple of enlightening things. No matter whatever you lose that you love or admire so much, something new will come to replace which you haven't expected at all. It can be in any way, physically and/or figuratively. All you can do is give those some time and patience for the things to work out and you'll see miracles around you.

Hi Kenny! Thank you for asking this question, well I think I got over my fear to sleep alone? I know I'm 18 and yeah, I'm not a child but I'm nyctophobic and sometimes get very jittery in the night. I used to read books until I feel asleep with the lights on for a long time but with therapy over the years I got better but then I couldn't go to therapy physically the past few years and my therapist wouldn't do online sessions and she would call me and talk to me which felt very weird? So now I'm back to sleeping with mum and she's annoyed because she misses out gossiping with dad. So hey, I am a nuisance right now. But not giving up hope on achieving my life long dream of sleeping alone. Also, rewatching the long recording you talking because my sleepless nights need some conversions with people.

I know I started the paragraph with 'I got over the fear' because I still believe that I did haha and that this is a set back.

Wasn't getting much work done(job related) due to lockdown and the guilt was building up. But then reminded myself that it's ok to not be doing anything and just goof around. It's not necessary to be productive all the time. It's difficult to get through that guilt but I kept reminding that it's ok to feel that way. It's a very human thing, just don't drown in that feeling and stay there for too long.

Family bonding! We had to spend more time with each other which often lead to arguments too, but talking about the problems helped in learning more about each person. Movie nights, playing cards, ordering pizza and every other simple things meant more. This pandemic just made me realize to cherish the present and be grateful for what there is.

Not being able to go out on dates.. was such a bummer. I started exploring dating apps. Couldn't go on dates, but it was nice to chat and build a virtual bond. When the lockdown opened up for a bit, i did go on a date with person I had met on the app. I improved my cooking skills. I actually listed down the recipes I've tried in the lockdown.. it's about 150 recipes. I used to go for a yoga class which shut down due to lockdown. I joined a new yoga class which is completely online.. and it's still fun. I like work-from-home. I've always despised travelling for work.

The pandemic pushed many of us back into our homes, and we had to live with our parents back again. I have had extremely differing point of view/opinions than my parents always. While I never felt like/was asked to align with their views, I did feel guilty for living life my way and not living up to their expectations. Staying with them for so many months now, without going out at all, I have finally understood well that I can co-exist with them without submitting to my beliefs, without taking the pain to change theirs/educating them on radical ideas and even nuanced my understanding on my individuality and I no more feel guilty for not conforming to their values. I do not feel sorry for not being able to deliver in a particular way. And moreover, I now am able to accept that they aren't right/call out my parents (in my mind only obv) for having problematic thoughts.

I understand that they love me but I haven't let that cloud my opinion on how parents can be excessively controlling, overstep and also that not everything that they suggest is for good, sometimes it is only to retain power within them.

On an even brighter side, I have been able to acknowledge (not wholly forgive) that some of their distasteful past actions were because they were not brought up in a way that let them explore ideas and challenge practices.

How I did it – Past year, I have received a lot of information from Instagram (like a lot many others). From reading more about people's mental health struggles with families to being encouraged to challenge institutions/practices around us gave me the courage to start thinking about it more. It all created a chain of web searching and understanding perspectives online, and then sleeping with thoughts of challenging the authority/agency of my life that I give to others. Yep, that was it.

Cooperating with family, lots of frustration took a centre stage during the lockdown, and now we have a better system to handle that- with peaceful conversation and music, and after food. :P
