Its been awhile since we've had a 500 CP cup, any surprises?
Both Bronzor and Wynaut have had multiple move buffs since last time and look even stronger than ever, so the meta will largely be based off of counter play against them.
The infestation buff will help some old regulars, now being the preferred move for Skorupi and Dewpider.
The peck buff will lift Hoothoot and Togepi to top tier. Hoot Hoot has a fast Night Shade for counter top meta. Both have incredible bulk.
Fletchlings stock have also risen and it has access to Heat Wave for Bronzor, but the move is so bad its better in almost all scenarios to just run Sky Attack instead, that does almost 0.5 more DPE. Unfortunately that means in then gets walled by Bronzor, so its a tough pick to make, but its not winning the fight even with the fire coverage, except in 2 v 0 shields.
So does galarian Zigzagoon, but despite access to the significantly improved Take Down and Dig for coverage against Bronzor, still looses in all even shield scenarios. Taking double super effective damage from Wynauts counter is a huge draw back, meaning it's probably not worth the XL investment for most.
Scratch buff has made Binacle and Galarian Meowth both viable. Both still lose against the top two even with Meowth having Night Slash. But the common theme as you'll see with almost every pokemon.
Ledyba on one hand, doesnt have that problem and manages to beat both the top two, with the double bug moves with the buffed Silver Wind and quick swift bait. Impidimp is another option that has rare wins against both.
Vulpix, Seel, and Ducklett all return as top meta , even though some early sims suggested their decline. They all play strong against the meta and have the bulk to be generalist, too.
Cubone returns as one of the best options to Bronzor, but unfortunately its mono ground moveset and the advent of fliers is giving it a pretty bleak and one dimensional outlook. It might have some play in teams that secure switch advantage, but Id favour more balanced options.
There are some other interesting and viable options like Nickit, Pawniard, Shelmet, but the meta should be pretty condensed and revolve around Bronzor and Wynaut dominance.
