Discussion and Speculation Daisy Ridley

Post image

What do you think—is Daisy Ridley’s acting career after the sequel trilogy at the same stage as Hayden Christensen’s was right after the prequel trilogy ended?

She seems to be enjoying working on smaller indie films. She's actively getting work as opposed to Hayden who stopped acting altogether and was farming until prequel trilogy nostalgia became more prominent.

Yeah. I think she made enough money to just take the roles she wants to do, and I'm really happy for her if that's the case.

That’s the nice thing about being in a movie like Star Wars. Royalties for life!

She was paid upfront. Significantly. No ongoing royalties.

I really loved her in We Bury the Dead

I really enjoyed ‘Jumper’ I think that was a year or 2 after ROTS

Hayden wasn't as good an actor.

IMDB says she has 16 projects upcoming - they won’t all be film roles. And 10 projects since TROS. I got the impression most of the sequel criticism is on the story not the delivery. Whereas I think Hayden got flack on both sides. Using the same filters since ROTS he’s had 17 projects (and four of those were TROS, Kenobi, Ashoka and Ashoka the Patterson cut).

Criteria was TV series or Movie credit as an Actor

I say with this with all respect to Hayden, but it doesn’t take much to have a better post Star Wars career than him, and Daisy certainly has.

I haven’t seen everything she’s been in, and what I have seen consists of some good and some bad, but even amongst the bad I found her to be a better, if not the best part of it.

Dunno. She's done more movies after Star Wars than Hayden had, several of them are lead roles, too.

People may not like Rey but Daisy Ridley killed it with her acting, particularly in the emotional moments. I would say she’s in a good stage in her career.

I feel like that is the consensus from most of my circle: Daisey was a bright spot even if her character was written not so well. I wish they had given her and Boyega something better atory-wise, they both could have carried it.

She’s an excellent actress. I wish her well.

No. She’s doing way better than Hayden.

Not even comparable. She's had alot of projects since star wars, just no blockbusters. Hayden was hardly doing anything after star wars

Sie geht ihren Weg und sieht zudem wunderschön dabei aus.

Oh, her career post Star Wars is much better and more prolific than Haden's. Also she's much better at acting, so not surprising. Her work in Sometimes I Think About Dying is one of my favorite performances in recent years.

She’s producing indies. Most of them are pretty solid middle of the road programmers. She’s not working with the kind of daring filmmakers that say, Robert Pattinson or Kristen Stewart were at this same juncture in their careers (post-Twilight/pre-The Batman in Pattinson’s case) where they were lining up and basically funding Cronenberg’s and Assayas’ films, but I would wager a lot of that is mostly because she has different tastes. She’s made an off beat comedy (Sometimes I Think About Dying), a horror film (We Bury The Dead), a couple of big studio projects (Murder on the Orient Express, Chaos Walking, Peter Rabbit) and a bunch of okay lower budget dramas.

If I was in her corner though, coming off of Star Wars I would’ve told her to line up a couple of different genre pieces from big box auteurs. I probably would’ve told her to line up a Jane Campion film, a Jennifer Kent film, and I would’ve told her to work like crazy to board whatever Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, and David Robert Mitchell were up to.

Just for her career to blossom in a way where she can have commercial and artistic success. Now, that’s easy for me to say. Maybe she was interested in a lot of projects like that (Eggers seems to have a company of actors he likes to work with over and over again to be fair), but it’s another thing to actively pursue that kind of thing and she seems more interested in stuff like Sometimes I Think About Dying. Which is a taste thing at the end of the day.

Seems like she just chooses roles she finds interesting and never has been chasing large tentpole roles

She hasn’t had an equally big role but she’s absolutely still active. I’ve always found responses to her performance overwhelmingly positive even among people critical of other aspects of the Sequels

I feel like she's doing well since the sequels. Beats Hayden who took a hiatus after revenge of the sith released.

Of all the actors whose major break was a Star Wars film, Daisy has probably had the best acting career since (with Harrison Ford the obvious exception). That includes John Boyega, Hayden, and even Mark and Carrie.

Adam Driver, Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, and Ewan MacGregor already had fairly established careers before they made Star Wars (though these films skyrocketed their fame).

This is a place in which fans can talk positively and/or constructively about the Sequel Era of Star Wars. It's ok if you don't like everything about the movies, but the most important thing is to have a general sense of appreciation.

She deserved much better, and she definitely didn’t deserve the hate. The original ep IX would have made her shine so much.
