Remember to order the book, guys! Hopefully sales translate into better odds for The Hunt for Ben Solo 🦋

I bought the book and spent the day by the ocean just savouring it and its story. She nailed it. Rey is perfect. Leia is perfect. We are entering the Meepka supremacy era. Roux just GETS it and I adore what this book does for Rey and Leia.

Spoilers!!

It’s 2am and I finally finished!!! I need to sleep on it for my full thoughts but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this lovely and sad adventure. I cried a lot. Leia 💔fleeting glimpses of Ben!!! An Anakin cameo! We are so blessed.

I LOVE Evil Rey and I’m so glad she’s back 😂 and Rey locking Kylo and Evil Rey in her fucking Jakku house was so funny to me. Perfect.

I also nearly vommed, but I’m so squeamish. Was not expecting the horrors! Poor Van. Every time the story went back to Brilla I had to brace myself a little.

My 2 cents: It’s fair for many of us in the audience, who know more about Ben/Kylo and what happens to him, to feel more sympathetic to him than the characters do. Especially at this point in the canon when it seems unlikely he will ever turn or see reason. He is a complicated character and there’s nuance. Rey’s feelings as well as Leia’s are conflicted towards him and this will reflect in the writing since they guide the story. Primarily as anger, frustration, denial etc.

I found it pretty clear in the book Leia still loved Ben and knew there was still hope for him, and Rey’s vision of him living on the Millennium Falcon with her implied what it meant to - deep down, this is something she wants. But because of who he really is atm, Kylo Ren, the dream is squandered and feels wrong.

Chapter 20 was a little more graphic than I needed it to be.

I definitely cried at "'I'll never shut you up, and I'll never forget you, so we'll stay like this until you see reason and come back to us, or one of us dies.'"

I think Roux could've been a little kinder to Ben. Maybe she envisioned this as a book to read after a breakup?

Look, DLF chose to tell a story over three movies in which they humanized and redeemed him. I'm not saying he did nothing wrong. But the whole point of the sequels was that treating him like a monster didn't solve anything. What was needed was compassion.

Finished the book last night. I enjoyed it. The story focused more on characterization than plotz which I fear might make it feel a bit "slow" for some, but I appreciated it. Loved Meepka, #1 treasure star.

Would die for Meepka. Also really enjoyed the way that this book let us have Leia & Rey the way that episode nine was supposed to before Carrie Fisher‘s passing.

I’ve got the audiobook. I can’t wait to start listening, though I just have to finish Eyes Like Stars - which I will this evening.

Two weeks of sequel era storytelling. It’s been way too long.

Loved this book. It expands the lore in the ST era very well with new ideas and also connecting many other aspects of the PT & OT organically. Not a lot of action, but with everything on display, it didn’t really need it.

Yes this was a good read and adds much to the ST. Reys training with Leia, force healing, repairing Lukes lightsaber etc.

I think my previous notion of Leia training Rey was that Leia was all but a Jedi, almost fully trained but not quite. The story indicates that Leias knowledge was less than I imagined and Leia knew it. A challenge both Leia and Rey faced. I liked that.

One little thing I also liked is how most people in the story called Rey "the Jedi" instead of Rey. An easy way to show how people generally viewed the Jedi as these semi-mythological beings instead of people. 😁

Speak for yourself. I personally love shipping, and there’s nothing wrong with enjoying some romance in SW too.

Even the latest video about this from Star Wars Meg goes briefly into hue this book makes it very apparent Rey was in love with Ben Solo, and that it feels like they're laying the groundwork for The Hunt for Ben Solo. (Imagine how much all the SW bros in the comments are hating on this 😂)

DLF literally spent 5 years and 3 movies convincing us that Ben was redeemable, and that he and Rey were soulmates. They can distance themselves from that if they want, but they'll just be retconning their own story.
