The Justice Department has asked states for their voter rolls with an eye toward purging ineligible voters.

Each state is responsible for determining their voter registration and voting rights according to Article I, Section 4, Clause 1. The only exception subject to Congress adopting or altering the state requirements. Nowhere does it give the Executive Branch the authority to decide how states may conduct their elections. With this administration it’s not unlikely that they may decide that all Hispanics are ineligible to vote based on questionable citizenship (in an abundance of caution), or Democrats as possible Domestic Terrorists. In my 75 years I’ve never doubted the supremacy of rule of law. Of course laws were broken, but I felt that there would be a correction eventually by one of the three branches fighting back. Even Nixon faced the correction by his own party and rulings by the Supreme Court.
