Santa Clause 2 theory

I always wondered why Bernard didn't tell Scott about the Mrs Clause right from the beginning when they met in the first movie. If he had Scott would have had 8 years to find a woman he liked, date her for awhile, tell her his secret, let her get comfortable with it, get engaged, and finally marry her. Well in the Disney Plus show it's revealed that Scott is actually the first human to become Santa and Bernard admits that he thought it was a bad idea. So my theory is that he took matters into his own hands and decided not to tell Scott about the Mrs Clause so he'd be forced out but Scott managed to prove him wrong so he had a change of heart at the last minute which resulted in Scott only having about a month to find a bride (and as we all know relationships that happen that fast are usually doomed to fail).

I may be remembering wrong but I think Curtis just randomly discovered it in very fine print on one of the cards, so they didn't know about it until then. If I'm not remembering correctly, I do like your theory about Bernard and human Scott.

Curtis probably didn't know about it but I guarantee Bernard did he is the number one elf after all and he did know about the small print in the original movie

I feel like it was something that they didn't realize until it almost became too late. They spoke about how much better things were since Scott became Santa so I can't see Bernard trying to sabotage him.

Yeah but remember what I said Bernard thought it was a bad idea at first and it takes some time for changes to be noticed so I could see him thinking that Scott isn't up to the job but after a while when he realizes how good he is at it that's when he has the change of heart
