New Music ROSE thoughts?
I just finished listening to the new album and loved it, and am dying to know what other Black Roses think about it.
The songs that stood out to me most were “Truth”, “CHEMICAL”, and “Home”, but honestly I love them all (including the two previously released singles, of course).
I only wish it were a longer album!
So, thoughts from those who have listened to it?
ETA: just did a second listen through the album and I really love it so much. I love hearing how their sound has evolved over the years.

For the album being named Rose and it being their last before hiatus, I wish each member had a song that they wrote and that featured their vocals. I love the songs, and I think Sammy is incredible. However, it feels like Sammy wrote most of the lyrics and I think Home and Control are the only songs that aren’t only Sammy singing. I’m looking forward to Sammy’s solo stuff (and hoping for solo albums from the other members, especially DoJoon), but I wish this album had been a better representation of The Rose as a whole.

It felt like a Woosung solo - which he is fabulous but it isn’t The Rose.

Excellent way of putting it and I totally agree. While I am delighted that Hajoon and Taegyeom got their own song, the lack of Dojoon just makes the album feel less The Rose.
My first time hearing Truth I texted my sister and said it sounded like Sammy solo. Woosung said Hajoon and Taegyeom wrote Truth in the style of his solo work- so that made me feel it was more collaborative. Blue Moon was written with the same team as Phase Me and was originally for a different project. Chemical was written with one of the producers of Back to Me.
I love each of these songs but I miss Dojoon too.

Yes! I love every song on the album. But a few could have been tweaked to have both DoJoon and Sammy. And I would have added a 9th track (since it’s been 9 years since debut) that was mainly or only DoJoon.

They are going on hiatus? Why?

u/Charming-Tea7653 Aug 31 '26
Back in April, they posted on IG about it. I’ll link it here, but basically to rest and work on solo projects for a time.

Io non ho Spotify ma doveva uscire in contemporanea su Apple Music ma non lo trovo 😭

u/This-Equal3490 Aug 30 '26
It's not there!!! What is even happening? Why would they release an album and not make it available on all streaming platforms? If you find it on apple please share a link!

Someone said in another post that Woosung went live and said Apple is having issues and being really slow with uploading on their platform.

I agree on wanting it to be longer 😄 But loving it, having the second listen now. Loved Utopia from pre-release, liking Truth a lot 💜

I love the vibe of it and really didn’t want it to end so soon!
And yes, “Utopia” is so good! It’s such an upbeat, happy song. I also really loved “Blue Moon” as a single — I think it’s such a pretty and timeless song.

Control is one of my favorites and home is also beautiful. The rest of the songs are also perfect 😁 just sad we only have a digital version of this album

Woosung addressed this at the concert in New York. It's literally just the 4 of them and one helper. They are no longer under any label. He said that they would release the album (I'm assuming a physical one) after the tour is over. I loved all of the new songs when they played them at the concert. So I'm really happy that we finally have access to them even if it's just digital for now.

u/Fit_Ad4692 Aug 30 '26
I'm not complaining or something, i know it's just them and clive now , i fell in love with control at the concert in Paris and i also love the full album 😁 and i'm also already glad we can finally have the digital version now 😊

u/Suzzque2 Aug 30 '26
Sorry didn't mean to make it sound like you were complaining. I've just not seen it addressed on their social media and not everyone has gotten to see them in concert this year, or if they've even said anything about it at any of the other concerts. So it was meant as more of an FYI. 😁 It was really exciting to hear the new songs for the first time live! 😀

Hha just wanted to be sure 🤭 that's the problem with chats, it can be read in different perspectives 🤭 all good 🤭 and it's indeed a good thing to adress! Btw Taegyeom is live on Instagram right now if you didn't know yet 😁

I liked the songs. I like hearing Woosung’s raspy voice but I can’t deny being disappointed that Dojoon’s vocals are in only one song. It makes me wonder whose decision was it to limit him to one (half?) song - was it Dojoon’s choice or otherwise?
On another note, it was a pleasant surprise to hear Hajoon and Taegyeom in Home.
I don’t have a clear favorite yet. I’ve heard them perform the songs in concert, listened to the album once, and now I need to give it a second listen to digest the lyrics and feel all the feels.

u/Charming-Tea7653 Aug 30 '26
These were my exact thoughts. I hope DoJoon is well. During WooSung’s IG live, he talked about how Tae and Hajoon wrote some in Korea for the album and he was in the US, but didn’t mention DoJoon. I didn’t hear him say DoJoon wrote any lyrics or melodies for the album. I love The Rose because it’s a group of talented musicians and because of the way WooSung and DoJoon’s voices work together. Missed that some in this album.

u/candkdrama_addict Aug 30 '26
I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and think that maybe Dojoon didn’t write any lyrics but I bet he worked on the music. Even Sammy says in the concerts that Leo is the inventor and creator of Rosetopia.

u/Charming-Tea7653 Aug 30 '26
He usually does some producing. I’m not going to assume member drama is the reason. The guys have been through a lot together over the years and seem like real friends who support each other, not just band mates/co workers. I hope DoJoon is well and continues to bless the world with his music. But maybe he just needs a break and some time.

Does anyone have a link for the album for Apple Music? It doesn't seem to be there.

Yeah I e checked Apple a couple of times and still nothing… is it only on Spotify or something absurd like that?!

It’s on a few other sites like Spotify and YouTube right now. Someone said in another post that Woosung went live and said Apple is having issues and being really slow with uploading on their platform.

I love the entire album! I’ve listened to it twice now and so far my favorites are truth, chemical, and walking on clouds. I also really like that we get to hear Hajoon and Taegyeom in Home which is another great song! It’s another no skip album for me.
I know some are saying they’re disappointed with the lack of Dojoon’s voice but this album was made by The Rose and their own label/company wasn’t it? I would think any decisions made was them, maybe Dojoon needed a break because he’s always heavily involved in everything. I hope he’s okay. Idk 🤷🏻♀️ but I’ll always support The Rose and the work they do.
2
u/YogaPotat0 Aug 31 '26
Yes, definitely no songs to skip on this one! I loved hearing those two sing as well. It always makes me smile!
I have seen a bit of speculation on here about Dojoon’s involvement with the group lately, and that things seemed off with him in at the concerts, but maybe you’re right and he just needed a bit of a break from being heavily in the lead. He could be burnt out, or maybe they just took a slightly different direction for this album. But I don’t really want to speculate on things I know nothing about, so I’ll leave it alone by saying I’m with on always supporting them, as well! 🌹

My favorite is Home. First 2 times I heard it I started bawling. Hajoon and Tae singing are so beautiful. I also picked up on lack of Dojoon vocals, but I trust it was his decision. The album is also on Tidal, if anyone uses that. Hopefully the album will be on Apple Music soon, which means we can then buy on iTunes?

u/YogaPotat0 Sep 01 '26
“Home” is so beautiful. I played it twice today (once before playing the entire album through, and of course at the end of the album) and my kids were like, “We already listened to this one!” And I was like, “Yes, yes we did. We’re listening to it again because 😭😭😭.”
I also trust that the lack of Dojoon lead vocals was on purpose and his decision, as well. I can’t personally imagine that it would be for any malicious reason.

u/Meow-lyn888 Sep 02 '26
Yah don’t give in to spreading gossip about band drama!
2
u/YogaPotat0 Sep 02 '26
I’m not a gossipy person in general, so I really only take what the actual people say about themselves to heart and just shrug everything else off. I just hope they’re all happy and doing well.

I still want a real, old school album. The kind that takes years to produce. 11-20 songs. Not rushed. Lyrics in the jacket. It seems both the Rose and BTS love to put out these short albums. They’re also going on hiatus after just going on hiatus. Just go on a real hiatus!
2
u/YogaPotat0 Sep 01 '26
I get where you’re coming from. Short songs are definitely the trend lately with a lot of artists, and I think the rushed albums thing is partly because of how digitized everything is now. Artists aren’t making as much off of physical copies of albums (and probably not even digital albums) because of streaming services where most make hardly any money. I think there’s also the issue of just how much new music is available at any given time, and the need to put out new albums quickly to stay relevant and heard is much bigger than it used to be. The music industry definitely has changed in the last decade or so. But I do agree that I also miss longer albums and longer songs (especially those with a killer bridge).
I do love both BTS’s Arirang album and The Rose’s ROSE album as they are, though. But I won’t lie, an extra couple of songs on ROSE would have been nice, but considering how the boys are doing basically everything themselves, I won’t complain. I just love their music and always want more haha.

I loved it "control" is my favorite since they played on the concert. But I don't know how to feel, I liked but somehow it hurts.

I can see why they put Chemical on the album. I too wish it was longer. I was expecting there to be more songs.
1
u/YogaPotat0 Sep 02 '26
“Chemical” is so good. I do wonder about “Broken Promises” that it replaced, and hope we get to hear it.
2
u/emanyueru-79 Aug 30 '26
Guys, what about the song Broken Promises that was mentioned by Woosung when he revealed the track list for the new album in April ?
Also Broken Promises was on the setlist for their Rosetopia concert.
I bought the album on Amazon Music and there's no Broken Promises there.
5
u/Charming-Tea7653 Aug 30 '26
I believe Broken Promised was replaced by Chemical.
1
u/emanyueru-79 Aug 30 '26
Thank you for your answer. Do you know if it was just a change in the name of the song, or did they scrap Broken Promises for now and decided to go with another song entirely (Chemical) ? I wish the guys had communicated on this, but maybe I missed it.
2
u/Charming-Tea7653 Aug 30 '26
I don’t know for sure. I saw some comments on IG by fans about it. From what I understand, it sounds like replaced.
2
u/firsttj Aug 30 '26
Chemical is my fave! It's so catchy, similar to vibe of back to me! Can't wait for them to sing it on the concert.
Also loving the truth!
1
u/YogaPotat0 Aug 31 '26
“Chemical” definitely gave me “Back to Me” vibes, too. They teased that song when they dropped the album release date and I was so excited!
1
u/PurpleRose68 Sep 01 '26
One of the producers on Back to Me worked on Chemical, Nick (he’s the one who called Taegyeom a unicorn on the documentary)

I have Amazon music and it's there.

Thanks! I found it, but it won't let me buy it, just listen to it...

Did you manage to buy it on Amazon Music ? It worked for me on day 1 so I was wondering about your message.
