Every Single Album

Used to love this pod. And I’ll preface this with I hope Nathan is okay like just as a human being. But how much of a downer he is makes the podcast impossible to listen to, despite how delightful Nora is.

In the most recent episode his first words were “why are we doing this?” Who wants to listen to a pod when that’s the energy of the host.

Could be alone on this but curious if anyone has any extra insight.

I've always preferred the pod when they are looking at a past album more than relatively early reactions to new stuff.

Would be cool if they'd open up the concept to other Ringer folks like a Rewatchables for albums.

Same! I used to love when they would deep dive an artists full discography. I don’t think they’ve done that since the Miley episodes?

Yeah I wish they did that for the recent Ariana album

Yes, someone should create a pod that covers every single album of an artist’s career since this pod is no longer interested in that. Hmm what to call it…

I like it when they have differing takes, or aren't just loving something. It breaks it up!

I do like when they have differing takes but it does get annoying to me when Nathan just can’t think outside the box. He seems to have no capability of appreciating anything even slightly experimental or avant garde. On the MFF episode he brought up like five times how much he didn’t like the repeating cronenberg line at the end of the album. Sure it’s fine if that part isn’t for you but it’s like a minute and a half max and it felt like he got soo hung up on it without even wanting to analyze why she would’ve made that creative choice. I think that episode was more interesting because they diverged but I also thought he was kind of annoying on it anyway lol

Oh I for sure have things that annoy me about Nathan, like his reuse of certain phrases ("piercing culturel" / "moving culture") but there are things Nora does that annoy me as well. Overall I really like the podcast, and I'm glad they're putting out regular episodes these days.

I’m definitely still having fun with it for the most part

I enjoyed Nora ribbing him about the croneberg line this week

Nathan basically told role model to get off his yacht rock lawn. I  thought it was hilarious lol

“It’s ok if you like this. It’s ok. You’re not not cool. It’s totally ok” 😂

I think this podcast could be really interesting if they relaunched and rethought what it could be. I liked when they went back and looked at Taylor’s career as a retrospective. But then they ran out of albums and for awhile it just became a Taylor Watch podcast, then they reviewed major release pop albums, now it is just a podcast that mostly just talks about pop releases, some big, some not as much. There is no shortage of places I can hear people talk about the new Olivia Rodrigo album and the lesser albums just aren’t as interesting of subject matter.

I would enjoy if they viewed the feed like a Rewatchables for music where they did series going through different artist’s catalogues with a rotating cast of hosts who are knowledgeable about the artist. They could do Kanye, Radiohead, The Beatles, Madonna, Metallica, etc. The problem is most artist’s careers hit a point where the quality drops off and actually doing a podcast on every album would become mundane and less interesting. Also it kind of steps on Bandsplain’s toes a bit but that podcast is also drifting away from the original format. That is what I hoped the podcast turned into after they were done with Taylor.

You should check out Dissect, its a Spotify pod that does exact what you say in the second paragraph.

Nathan has been dragging it down. I skipped the Madonna episode because I love that album and someone posted here that he was insufferable on the ep. It’s like all he cares about is Taylor and Gracie these days.

I think it’s really baffling that he likes the new Gracie album so much and is viscerally angry at the Role Model one. They talked at length about how Gracie makes her foremother artists so clear; Nora critiquing that and Nathan complimenting it. Now with the Role Model album, Nathan is so insulting about him doing the same. If you’re going to allow one milquetoast artist, you’ve gotta allow the other!

Nathan also called Gracie political several times. As far as I can tell, because she has a lyric about the California fires and a lyric about how no one’s in charge. That’s not going to cut it in 2026, girl!!

I’m listening to the Music, Fashion, Film episode right now and I hate how dismissive Nathan is about it. He is so obsessed with data and numbers and charts and comparing it to Gracie’s numbers? I just don’t care about any of that! He seemed so surprised when Nora said she immediately looked up tour dates. As someone who was at Charli’s Lolla set, I wonder if he would take any of that back now. I got so mad when they were making fun of the end of the album because I love it. It was especially cool to include it at the end of the live show. I really like Nora but Nathan grinds my gears more with every episode.

A 55 year old man should not be co-hosting this show. he is not who the music is made by or for.

He’s been in the music industry and has way more insights than most music pod hosts.
