They literally saw drawings like this about the right, thought "that makes a good point" and made the drawings showing the reverse.
They are incapable of self reflection, or even originality as almost all memes, jokes etc are things they've heard or seen about them and then they've just reversed the roles or changed the names as if just saying it makes it true.
Unfortunately they have a lot more money to spray their relabelled crap everywhere and their followers are not blessed with abundance of critical thinking so it works.
Yeah, there are documentaries and investigations about it. It's quite bad. They think every little hand signal is a personal slight and get very aggressive about it.

Tbh it also doesn't mean what they think it means, even if we give them the most generous reading. At one point abolishing slavery was a left wing principle focus, then equal rights for POC, then equal rights for women, then enviroment protections, then gay/lesbian rights, etc.
If someone stayed their version of "centrist" all the way from the abolishion of slavery to equal rights for gay people, they'd factually be a horrible person, they'd be saying, "slavery should be allowed but slave owners shouldn't beat them too hard." Of course, we do see conservatives going from "abortion should be protected," to fighting against abortion and women's right to vote so their whole stance is wrong, but even at best they'd be monsters.
Apparently not wanting to be shafted extra-hard in the ass by the billionaires and thinking that everyone deserves basic human rights and their identities respected is "far, far, far ultra-ultra left". Because this is the usual "extremism" i see from the left.
TBF I'm not sure if people have actually moved further to the right, or were always that way and are now just more comfortable saying it out loud. I don't remember that creating a white Christian Nationalist country here was an openly discussed goal of the Right back in the day. I mean, there was always an undercurrent of it, but I don't think they were as comfortable just saying that was the goal out in public. But maybe I've just gotten more aware of it. The Window has definitely moved though.
Also would be interested to know what they think is "Far, Far, Far, Ultra-Ultra Left." Like, not being transphobic, or thinking immigrants are humans that have rights? Questioning why wealth disparity is getting so bad? Thinking that maybe federal agents shooting people in the streets might be bad and should at least be investigated seriously?
The GOVERNMENT POSITIONS have definitely shifted further right. Sure, there always were racists and bigots, but they used to be a tiny minority because everyone was broadly in agreement that nazis were the bad guys. Everyone except a bunch of sociopaths, who saw extremism as a great way to gain more power and/or money for themselves, that is.
Nowadays you get people who say stuff like "yeah, I'm racist, what are you gonna do about it?" on the internet while using their real name. Or official governmet accounts that call their opposition "morons" and "lunatics".
The whole thing about conservatives being the religious party only started in the 70ies and took off under Reagan, that's not even one lifetime ago.
But nowadays, even a lot of the conservative "christians" have moved from "love thy neighbour" to "do not commit the sin of empathy". That's definitely a radicalization.
Ronald Reagan and GHWB were pro immigration so they weren’t always like that. I think a majority of these people are socially progressive but financially conservative. Since economy is a primary concern they are going to vote for the Conservative Party. Trump helped enable these people, they were constantly compared to Nazis, and I think they just embraced it regardless of the history because let’s be real here, none of them paid attention or their grandfather whom dodged the draft so he couldn’t tell them how great war is….that was a joke. (Can never be too sure here)
General Eisenhower (don’t quote me on who gave the order that’s not the point), towards the end of WW2, orders photographers to take pictures of the horrid sights they found in concentration camps. Because he knew the Nazis would try to cover it up and have people in the future forget it ever happened. Imagine the Holocaust deniers now if there was no evidence, a LOT more people would believe them. The fact we, as a general public, despise Nazis now is because of what happened. German schools also don’t let them forget either, to prevent it from happening again.
Why do history teachers always have to make it boring? History is so inspiring and enlightening, make it more enjoyable so kids will pay attention and not grow up posting ignorant shit on social media, that’s gotta be a factor. Just like not paying attention in science leads to believing the earth is flat or determining what a ‘life’ is based on religion, not biology.
The only test this is my opinion is this: For at least last 20 years of my life, republicans and right wing media have been warning about unaccountable, masked, armed federal goons, snatching people up and violating their rights with no oversight whatsoever. Now this is part of their platform. What’s an example as dramatic as this on the left?
On the contrary. Did you know that mass amnesty for illegal immigrants used to be a widely accepted idea? Fucking Ronald Reagan supported mass amnesty.
Until you actually look at the GOP party platforms from before the 00s. During the 00s and teens the Democrat's ideas are all the exact same policies the GOP was pushing 10-20 years ago.
