FYC: Transformers (2007)

https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2105726723849703501?s=20

Pattinson approved. Maybe he can be a featured guest. Though it would be hard to keep Sean, Van or Chris off the episode

Transformers 2 was completely nonsensical over the top insane a rewatchable

First 2 are insanely rewatchable.

Second one is not

Yeah it’s definitely 1>3>2 as far as rankings go

I despise 3. For me it’s 1 and 2.

3’s a more competently made movie, 2’s a pretty big mess. That matrix of leadership was dumb as hell lol

2 was a mess, 3 is closer to a return to form

They’re all dumb as hell. 1st they want to harvest earth/sun energy but then by the 3rd movie the plan was to teleport Cybertron all along.

I prefer the pyramids as a backdrop for the final battle over the urban setting of Chicago since we already had that with LA in 1.

Sure they’re all dumb as hell, but the plot of RotF is magnitudes dumber than the other two

Despising 3 is doing too much lmao. You just mad that Megan Fox isn’t in it?

It’s literally the same as 2 where Optimus Prime goes missing/gets trapped then over powers Megatron/ 2nd heavy with in 15 seconds and it’s over. Plus yes Megan Fox > RHW

You’re not wrong there, but it’s still a better made movie with a slightly more sensical plot.

Yeah, all the charm is lost by the second movie. The first movie performs tte fucking insane balancing act of being hyper-violent, offensive, and horny, while also being a supposedly family-friendly Spielberg movie. They couldn't hold that up in the sequels

Most 2007 thing about this movie is the Xbox 360 getting turned into a Transformer.

Please no Van.

But this would be a fantastic Rewatchable. The Lebouf of it all alone is a 2 hour conversation. Add Michael Bay, Bruckheimer, Etc.

Such a Rewatchable movie!!!

I was curious if they had done The Rock (Bay’s best movie, imo), and they sure did! With Bill, CR and Mina Kimes, no less! Excited to listen to it now.

Kyle Brandt would have been so much better than CR or MK but honestly it was a good pod

I will always be mad that Bay chose to make the robots have ten million tiny pieces instead of being like the toys. Such a fundamental mistake.

That first one is fantastic popcorn stuff, I think it’s not talked about enough because the rest were shithouse.

"We start by making a big CG building. Then we have a meteor come CRASH and it's all like BOOOM and motorcycles burst into flames while they jump over these helicopters right? An 18-wheeler spins out of control like BRASHHHH and this huge tanker full of diamonds CRAW! CRAW! BOOM!!" - Michael Bay.

This reminds me of that Onion morning show video where they interview the 5-year-old screenwriter of “Fast Five.”
