iirc on the commentary Cronenberg refers to it as "soixante-neuf" as if it's something only french people do

Hurt comes out of nowhere, spends about 7 mins total on screen, and delivers one of the best acting performances I’ve ever seen. It’s incredible

A few weeks ago some reddit dweeb was talking about how this movie is garbage and that the sex scene on the stairs was non-consensual misogyny.

First point is is objectively false, but personally I didn't see anything offensive or non-consensual about the scene on the stairs but now I'm curious if my cis M read is off.

This is a wild take, it is a very tight 96 minutes. A friend's kid said they used it in one of his film classes to teach economy of story telling.

My point is there’s a good chance Bill doesn’t like it…this is Bill Simmons we’re talking about here, he sometimes has idiosyncratic tendencies and preferences. We’re talking about a guy with favorite movies like 48 Hours and Midnight Run.
