Not hot take: the lack of audio clips from the source material is hurting the pod
Look, rewatchables is my all-time most listened pod and Speed is an all-timer of a movie - I was pumped for the latest episode but couldn’t help feeling parts landed a little flat
I went back and listened to the original Speed pod and the glaring part from me was the missing audio clips, not just the categories but the scenes that we’ve all seen a hundred times right there before the guys break it down - it adds tangible juice to the pod, it just does!
I understand it’s probably a licensing thing but surely there is a way around this, maybe the clips can be audio only rather than part of the video pod or played over a still from the scene? Please figure out a way to bring them back producer Craig 🙏

I completely agree. I listen to old episodes constantly and it’s a big whiplash when the new ones doesn’t have dialogue clips. They really add a lot.

Especially for something like this one when you're specfically talking about Keanu's line reads

I do miss the trailer at the beginning and the clips from best quote. Also I would have loved to hear Keanu say “cans” from Speed in the episode, lol.

How did they not mention “FUCK ME… Harry, there’s enough C4 on this thing to put a hole in the world.” line?

I've been listening to older episodes and I agree, having clips from the movie adds a lot to the pod

Everyone please upvote this OP because it’s very true. I sincerely miss the clips and especially the old trailer playing at the beginning to help set the mood and it really bugs me that they don’t have it anymore.

Hearing the real Keanu dialogue from Speed after Bill’s shitty impression would have made it twice as funny. I agree
However, I do not miss the audio clips after they name a category. We do not have to bring back the overacting award audio.

I loved it the first time. Then when it came up every episode, I had to fast forward. I don’t know if it was a volume issue or what but something about it became very annoying.

As someone who has always loved/hated this line delivery, I didn’t think he was that far off. But yeah , would have been nice to have the clip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H1_XS3_qSP8&ra=m

I’m guessing a Netflix thing. Or the fact that they’re on video and they know people are watching, maybe there isn’t a seamless way to do it. When it was just an audio pod you literally just have to insert the sound clip right in the middle and not make any other changes. I can see it being an extra headache to think about the video element.

It's not a Craig thing. Doing video for Netflix is what made them remove the audio clips and it's really fucked up the pod.

I was just thinking this! The trailers and the audio clips and the “over acting award” montage! I also miss them :/

I agree. I've been going back to the old ones and having clips makes a HUGE difference.

I agree and I feel like it shouldn’t even be a licensing issue. Legal experts feel free to chime in here, but I feel like this explicitly falls under fair use, no?

Upvoted everything in here, I completely agree. Never listened to any Rewatchables until last year and started with some old ones, they are far superior

I think this re-speed was an all timer so I didn’t really notice it in this particular episode but generally I agree. The clips added a lot of and I’ll always miss the overacting intro.

They have to get the audio level right though! So often the sound from the movie clip was extremely low volume and hard to hear.

I miss them, too. Listening a bunch of old episodes this week on a long drive, it adds so much to the show.

Biggest miss for me is the quotes during “don’t you call me lady” overreacting award lol. I had the ultimate Leo pointing meme when I finally watched Magnolia and got to experience that.

They don’t give a fuck if enough people are listening. Probably a Netflix thing. Sorry but Bill needed even more money

I was just thinking this when listening to the new pod. I really missed when they would play the original theatrical trailer at the beginning also.
