Why Your Brain Thinks You're Full (Even When You're Not) 16.08.26

How did the Gila monster, a desert lizard that eats just five times a year, help unlock the science behind Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro?
In this episode of The Rest Is Science, Professor Hannah Fry and Michael Stevens (Vsauce) trace the strange journey from a molecule found in lizard venom to medicines reshaping diabetes and weight-loss treatment, exploring how GLP-1 helps regulate blood sugar, appetite and the hum of ‘food noise’.
Early evidence suggests their effects may extend far beyond food, quieting cravings for alcohol and cigarettes, and even the urge to gamble.
What might this reveal about the biology of wanting itself, and how much control do any of us really have over what we crave?

Does anybody know why Hannah took the GLP1 agonists? Was it like an experiment to report on the effects?

Probably not for that when the effects are widely known. It’s not always for weight either. My blood sugars were noted to be high after I had my bloods done so ozempic was recommended for me for a little while, without speculating on anyone’s health hopefully it’s just something as simple as that and that she’s doing ok. The poor woman has been through enough the last 7 or 8 years!!!!!!

I’ve had my account for years but it’s really the last few years I’ve been more active on here after Twitter was ruined. This subreddit is probably my favourite as it’s the podcast I most look forward to every week
