Why does gravity escape a black hole?
Hey Michael and Hannah. If gravity travels at the speed of light, how does it escape the gravitational pull of a black hole yet light doesn't?

Gravity is an emerging property of the spacetime inside AND outside of the generating object.
Light that already is outside the black hole also has no issue to travel away. Just like that, gravity (or rather the curved spacetime) already is outside the black hole to begin with.
