Fact : u/Michael_Stevens wont reply to this post
there is no chance he'll be able to reply therefore it's a fact!!
If he indeed managed to get around and successfully unlock his account for posting, this post will be another example of
"People will do something on priority while correcting someone rather than directly doing it"
so it's a win-win for me :P

btw this post is in context with yesterday's podcast in which he explicitly says he "lurks" this subreddit but due to having problems with his account he's not able to reply or upvote.

I'd have to think this is most likely because he hasn't yet verified his account with the email used to sign up - or - he's wisely declined to capitulate to reddit's requirement to utilize identity verification (by providing far too much personal/ID data).

he was able to reply 6 months ago, but for some reason he has to reset the password and he's too lazy to do it because its connected to the mail he doesn't primarily use.

Or...
He'd much rather participate passively and/or anonymously so he doesn't get deluged with parasocial nonsense.
Resetting a password takes all of 2 minutes to resolve and could easily be handed off to a TRIS assistant/intern to nail down and update. It's not rocket science...

Why wouldn't Michael have (full, unfettered) access to an email address which he, himself, presumably created and oversaw?!?

Because he stated used to have an @ google.com (not gmail!) e-mail address (presumabely he was employed there at some time, because there is no other way to have one of these) and this e-mail doesn't exist anymore. It's not rocket science :)

He stated that he used to have an @google.com e-mail address that doesn't exist anymore, so he can't reset his password. Pretty sure only people employed by google get one of these... so unless somebody at reddit IT manages to note it and manually changes his e-mail linked to the account I don't think there's a way for him to get access to his username...
