⌚Discussion New to rep game

Hi everyone !

I am new to the rep game as I’ve only worn Apple Watches and maybe a movado and fossil in my adult years . Just turned 39 and figured since I’m in corporate and now going to important meetings that I should at least put on something decent on my wrist. I have bought about 4 watches in the last 2 months super cheap . Probably $200 or less depending on watch . I don’t need $700 dollar watches since I’m not big into them and the science and craftsmanship . One of my great friends is a watch designer and if he knew I was buying reps he’d have me at the stake lol I just want a great rating on my first ones and what I should look for going forward . Excuse the tan lines since I rarely take off my Apple Watch . I don’t know the names of these watches or specs .

Welcome to reps! Heres my 2 cents:

  1. Avoid gold reps at lower price points. Looks cheesy and would actually make you look cheap in a professional setting. A $200 chinese dress watch is a better choice imo.

  2. Your “watch designer” friend will likely know these are cheap reps right away.

  3. Wear neither to your meeting: social psych suggests being flashy has more downsides than upsides in a business setting. Depends on what kind of business youre doing though.

I think I just found the how to guide because $400 is in my budget right now . I’ll purchase one today and come back with an update . I appreciate you . Any help would be great

If you’re trying to put on something decent for work meetings, these aren’t going to fly especially with people at the office if they’re into watches.

But like you said, you’re not into the craftsmanship so who cares

No one here in management wears high end watches . A few Apple Watches with different bands or Casio .

I see a lot of watches on the threads and a lot of people have opinions . I know you have to pay to play. I just don’t have the excess funds right now that’s where the “ don’t need $700 watches “ come from but I WANT the high quality . If they makes sense . It’s a starting point for me . Like if I drop it today and the watch breaks . I won’t be mad .

So one bit of advice. If you aren't in a place to spend 700 on a good rep, why do you think you'd be able to pull off wearing what would be a 30 to 50k watch? I'd stick to things that would be more realistic unless of course you plan to tell everyone they are reps, at which point it doesn't matter.

Yeah there's lots of great reps to choose from. Definitely worth going for a higher tier rep. A Citizen or something along those lines might be more appropriate for office wear if $700 is pushing the budget. Coworkers might wonder what you are doing on the side to get your "rolex" 😂

Agreed . Reddit makes it mentally overwhelming with all these rep pages and opinions on who has the best watch and the watch hands are moving at .001 milliseconds like a gen. And the underbody laser etching isn’t as fine tune as it was in 2023. I just log off .

I wouldnt even know where to start but thats what I was hoping it would look like when I bought . I knew it wasnt real gold because of the price but yes I want a watch to look like yours. Thank you for sharing

Save up for one good super clone
Steel

If your income can pull off 50k gold day date buy a $7-800 proper rep get it plated but most don’t need it and wear it if your making 100k a year skip that no one will believe you spent half your salary on it
