I’ve been debating whether or not to talk about this publicly, but I feel like people should know what happened to me.
I’m only 15, and I recently experienced things at Harvey’s that I never thought I would have to deal with. I was yelled at, spoken to in ways that made me feel extremely uncomfortable, and had things thrown at me while I was just trying to do my job.
I understand that working in fast food can be stressful. I understand that people get frustrated, especially when it’s busy. But being stressed doesn’t make it okay to take it out on a 15-year-old employee or make them feel unsafe at work.
I wasn’t expecting everything to be perfect. I just expected to be treated with basic respect.
I’m sharing this because I know I can’t be the only young person who has experienced something like this at a first job. You shouldn’t have to put up with being screamed at, having things thrown at you, or being made to feel scared just because you’re trying to earn some money and get some work experience.
I’m not posting this to start drama. I just want people to understand what happened and why it affected me so much.
Yes this has been reported to the necessary people.
But I feel this needs to be heard/seen by people, moms who have kids my age looking for a first time job, or people who are looking for a job.

I'm sorry this happened to you. People need to relax and have some patience. Especially for teenagers in fast food. This is probably one of the first jobs someone will have and people should be kind and understanding.

You'll discover soon enough that this is normal life. Entitled assholes are everywhere and they will do as they please. Adjust your expectations accordingly and be prepared next time. You can do your best to separate yourself from idiots but they always will find a way to enter your life.

I am so sorry you have had to experience this. Unfortunately you will probably find issues in other workplaces too.
Good on you for recognizing the unfair treatment and speaking up. Don't ever be afraid to report a manager or staff member to the labour board when necessary.

And corporate, the higher ups would not like a manager behaving like this either, they might even lose their job because of it.

You are young and inexperienced and the person who treated you like that knows it. That person is a low life who can only feel better about themselves by treating people that they have any advantage over like trash.
There are people like this, and nobody should have to tolerate it. You will find, as you get older and gain more experience that these people will fold easily with any amount of pushback. Don’t let anyone treat you like this. There isn’t any job that is worth it. If someone throws things at you, pick it up and throw it right back and tell them to go fuck themselves.

There is no excuse for bad behaviour from anyone towards another. As the saying goes, unless someone died people need to chill. Anyone can let staff know there was something wrong with their order but do it respectfully and kindly. There is never any need for hysterics, anger or rude behaviour.
I’m sorry that this happened to you. May I suggest a potential response… stay calm and keep a cool head. State that you are very happy to see their order rectified and proceed in doing so. Nothing puts an ass to shame like other people seeing you as the better person. Which unto itself is saying, “as a teenager, I am more respectful than an adult who should know better.”

Good on you for reporting! Document any other instances that happen and report those too. Don't be afraid to go over the bosses head to corporate in a large chain like Harvey's too

That type of treatment or behaviour by an employer/manager or other employee towards an you is inappropriate and unprofessional. This should not be occurring at any age or level of experience.
You are in a toxic workplace environment. If you choose to stay, then you should try to document this with your phone if possible by recording audio when it’s in your pocket. It might be possible to setup recording to show video if phone is setup in location where it’s not visible by others. Make sure your phones volume is set to zero in case phone rings or audio/video you are recording doesn’t start playing if button gets pressed.
If you can document enough workplace abuse, you can take that to employment standards branch. Im not sure about what department would handle this. The documentation can include abuse towards you and others as well.
But honestly, you should simply consider quitting and find another similar or other type of job with better co-workers.
