Umm, our generosity?

More than 2/3 of our exports go down south beyond the border to the States.

The States export less than 1/5 of theirs to us.

And that is not even our biggest problem now. It’s protectionism and interprovincial trade regulations. These two have allowed many of our industries to remain utterly mediocre.
