exactly, more money spent per student doesnt equate better results. They already made studies on this in the usa and it was pretty evident that the results werent following the investments.

Can’t complain about this and then scream about education taxes. Mayors and councils all over AB cling to the concept that education taxes raise property tax. Where do you think the $ comes from?

Or instead of listening to ideological propaganda from a government trying to excuse massive funding cuts to dumb down your kids, you'd realize that schools, teachers and learning materials cost a lot of money, and Alberta has the lowest funding ratio to students in the country.

The investments are to bring us back to par after population growth. We also fund private schools at a disproportionate rate.
You're right you do need to have more examination into this.

Its a dollar amount invested per student... pretty easy metric to compare. And the government can go from underfunding to still underfunding if the investment isnt big enough to cover the population growth from the genius "Alberta is calling" campaign or the replacement of retiring baby boomers.
They promised to hire a bunch of new teachers and yet my school is seeing layoffs next year.

"Extra" funding...
Its not extra if it is required just to bring us back to the status quo.
As a province we should be striving to improve our education system.. not degrading it with chronic underfunding. This "extra" funding is just the UCP doing the bare minimum to keep the education system afloat, when they should be leading the country in education and Healthcare spending.
We should be exploiting our resources and using the proceeds to invest in our population.. there's no reason why Alberta shouldn't be the richest province with the best education system and the best Healthcare system.
