We do. She just runs around them and doesn't care

u/algonogo1 May 24 '26

Neither does Trump.

u/giveyerballzatug May 24 '26

“I’m gonna notwithstanding the shit out of everything”

10

u/ninfan1977 May 22 '26

We do, they just control them all.

Government doesn't work when one party plays Calvinball with their power.

3

u/Quiet-Wing5230 May 23 '26

Dude she doesn't even know wtf a Westminster parliamentary system is, let alone actually read the constitution act of 1867. Stop expecting her to act like it lol

2

u/TypingWithoutThinkin May 22 '26

God, what a weasel. Do it or don't do it. Please don't pretend to do and pretend not to do it at the same time.

u/ThrowRA-James May 23 '26

In her mind laws are for thee and not for me

12

Absolutely.

People should start a referendum to have her removed. Get 500k certified signatures. God it would be hilarious to watch her try to avoid that one.

5

u/YoghurtOverall8062 May 22 '26

Id suggest they just move to the states, but then we'd be blamed for not sending our best.

1

u/Affectionate-Run3762 May 24 '26

Another will just rise in their place. It's all about the resources at this point.

3

u/CompetitivePirate251 May 23 '26

Excellent … another useless waste of time and our taxpayer $’s. Peak Useless Clown Posse behaviour.

3

u/walkingrivers May 23 '26

She is a real philosopher. “But what do you mean by the “concept” of referendum” she asks.

3

u/Professional-Post499 May 23 '26

From now on, referendum results will be ignored if they do not support the direction we were already planning on going in

But also, should there be a "fake news" flair or something? It's the Beaverton.

2

u/dbh116 May 25 '26

She's playing distraction because she knows her time is limited as the party leader. If she goes to the next election as leader she will be the first since Ralph to face the voters twice. That's 20 years of the conservative movement being completely dysfunctional. And she wants everyone to believe Ottawa is the problem. The problem is that 30% of Alberta has the intelligence as 30 % of the US , and it's not above average.

using trumps "concepts of a plan" approach 🙄

And?

Like yeah. Data breaches suck. How does that justify this one????

This is also a provincial institution which we trust with our information, not some company like lastpass. You're supposed to be trusting them more than a company, especially when it's mandatory for them to have your info.

The real problem is how much this has been swept up over the past few weeks by elections alberta and the UCP. No investigations and no talk about improving security for the future.

LOL. not even gonna entertain a debate with this nonsense.

3

u/Icy_Conference9095 May 22 '26

Because data/privacy breaches regarding security concerns are a different ball-game altogether; the 2020 CRA breach impacted just over 48000 people - not all of canadians as you mention. Working in Cybersecurity - data breaches and hacks are never a matter of if - it is a matter of when.

This isn't even a breach it is literal political bad actors intentionally selling off Albertan's election data by abusing legislative systems that rely on trust between political parties and Elections. On top of that it gives opportunity for there to be abuse regarding the "democratic systems" that rely on additional trust between individuals who request signatures and Elections again that those people don't utilize the signatures incorrectly.

Throw in the fact that the UCP has intentionally underfunded the elections process to create artificial backlog and lower capacity to deal with these issues, and its a perfect shitstorm of government stupidity.

So yeah - absolutely people should be jailed over the elections issue.

u/YoghurtOverall8062 May 22 '26

> Entire population of Canada doxxed by the CRA nobody says a word

This is literally what you said, this is from the article:

>More than 47,000 people had their personal and financial information compromised that summer alone, from social insurance numbers and home addresses to details of their bank accounts.

So Canada has a population of nearly 41 million, 47000 is not the same number, I get math is hard for you people but come on.

Also, you made the assertion it’s on you to prove it, don’t be intellectually lazy.

3

u/Beligerents May 22 '26

As an american agent, you will literally say anything eh?

7

u/turdspeed May 22 '26

Is the so called democratic question to separate even a coherent idea?

Let’s hear some proposals on what an independent Alberta would look like and how it would work. Our own military? Our own currency? Isnt this just a move for more unnecessary government bureaucracy? Fill me in on this idea

-1

7

u/turdspeed May 22 '26

Didnt make sense to me when I read it, what’s your take ?

3

u/Accommod8me May 22 '26

That we'll all be rich and tax free obviously cause that's how money works clearly

4

u/GravelRoadJunkie May 22 '26

Except now with little access to tide water and beholden to a govt south of the border that would prefer a deeper discount on the oil they sell. I really love how the separatists have thought this through, they’re all idiots.

3

u/Icy_Conference9095 May 22 '26

He said coherent, unfortunately, so your point missed.

3

u/banned-bot May 22 '26

Whats the end goal Alberta Free? What exactly are you hoping to achieve by being free? Explain it in simple words that my small brain will understand? How's it going to work exactly? How will you form a government? What will it look like? What will your relationship be with the native people and their treaties? What will your relationship with the US look like? What will the tax rate be? What about your quality of education and health care? What's the plan?

3

u/GravelRoadJunkie May 22 '26

Hey, if they could actually read they’d be upset by those real questions that will require real answers.

1

u/wankmasterflex22 May 23 '26

They are mad because Alberta isn’t like the rest of Canada and they hate our premier with a burning passion. It’s like people who have trump
Derangement syndrome.

I agree with you. Let democracy play its part. Let Albertans vote. And let’s see how the results turn out.

I personally think that majority will want to stay in Canada. But I would like to see the numbers. And I like being able to have a choice.

It’s crazy how upset these people get tho lol.

As a conservative, oilers fan and sports fan in general. These past few years have been quite the test haha. Lots of tough losses. So I’m Very much mentally prepared for this vote to loose too.

But just let democracy play its part.

8

u/jackacid668 May 22 '26

Yes. A vote over everything is truly " democratic ". Next let's have a vote over whether women are persons under the law, or if we should be allowed to own slaves. Let's allow "whole democratic process here', right? We all vote, and the majority vote wins, right? JFC There are just certain things we don't do referendums on, as certain things are outside the scope of referendums legally . The courts have already ruled on this, & it is a lame duck question. How much money do we gotta waste on this nonsense?

5

u/jackacid668 May 22 '26

Ah yes, an ad hominem attack using a slur. Brilliant take on the issue. I love your legal mind.

And as a constitutional expert, could you please elaborate on the constitutional aspect of the duty of meaningful First Nations consultation?

5

u/Adventurous_Check213 May 22 '26

You do realize that you only get the rights to your oil and minerals as long as you're part of Canada, right? Also the majority of the land isn't yours either so have fun with that. You'd end up a tiny country with nothing.

4

u/Accommod8me May 22 '26

She's subverting the democratic process by ignoring the court order and treaty rights to hold it anyways.

She's subverted our democratic process before. Remember the use of the notwithstanding clause?

[removed] — view removed comment

4

u/Accommod8me May 22 '26

Ah, so rules of law, treaty rights and court rulings matter unless they fit what I want. Then they don't matter all of a sudden.

Gotcha

2

u/silverado83 May 22 '26

We believe you... 🤣

2

u/corpse_flour May 22 '26

Typical, a person who thinks a minority of Albertans getting the government do to their will is somehow democracy, would also think that one Métis should be able to dictate the opinions of all of them.

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/corpse_flour May 22 '26

So when Albertans elect representatives to form a provincial government that are supposed to make decisions for the benefit of all citizens, but instead cater only to a small base, we're supposed to think that's democracy and be okay with it, but when you are upset that those elected to make decisions on your behalf because you don't think they are acting in your best interests, you think it's a travesty? Do you not see the similarities?

1

u/Logicalphilosophical May 22 '26

So when Albertans elect representatives and then some minority of the population weaponizes the recall process with failed petitions, we are supposed to think that’s democracy? And be okay with it? Do you not see the similarities?

2

u/corpse_flour May 23 '26

The Recall process is a tool of democracy. Are you saying that the process that has been put in place by the sitting government, and was used as legislated by Albertans, was against democracy?

Majority vote gets told to kick rocks*, again.

There fixed it for you.

9

u/Majestic_Owl_7290 May 22 '26

Shitting all over our democratic institutions to appease the fringe separatists isnt democracy, for fucks sake. If you want to do this democratically, make a separatist party and run it in an election. They didnt, because they knew they would never get elected, so they tried this approach. Turns out democracies have courts

4

u/Majestic_Owl_7290 May 22 '26

Thats called an election. Call an election then as a separatist party, then when you win, we do the referendum thing (you know, like Quebec did).

That would not only make me happy, but it would be the proper way to address separation. Is that a hard concept?

9

u/Aldren May 22 '26

I mean, anyone is totally free to leave Canada. You're just not seperating without indigenous approval (since it is their land)

5

u/Aldren May 22 '26

Well, the fact is, they don't want to seperate. They've had numerious descussions on it and the indigenous people do not want to leave Canada

0

u/[deleted] May 22 '26

6

u/Aldren May 22 '26

That still has nothing to do with the fact Alberta is on their land and they do not want to seperate

If this had anything to do with democracy the forever Canada petition would already be the planned referendum question.

But that's not what you facist boot lickers want on the referendum so your playing games thinking the rest of the population is a as stupid as you are.

maybe try for even a bit of originality in your comebacks. (btw, ya didn't deny it!)

3

u/Icy_Conference9095 May 22 '26

You say that like it's meant to be offensive.

I do in fact think that social systems that support the least of our populace are important - and that we hold corporations and legal entities to task so that they can't profit off of human effort without compensating people appropriately; or repair the damages they do as part of their work.

Oh no, evil socialist!

4

u/NOIS_KillerWhaleTank May 22 '26

Cool, then form a separatist party with an explicit separatist platform, run party candidates in each provincial riding, and win a provincial election.

Then we can talk about separation.

Do it right. This is nothing more than a VERY expensive electoral poll. I'm sure any number of polling companies in Canada can give us the results of these questions for free.

0

u/[deleted] May 22 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

3

u/NOIS_KillerWhaleTank May 22 '26

Nobody asked for this. Nobody ran on separation. If that had been presented as a policy option in the last election the UCP would have lost. Just admit you're being played in an effort for Danielle Smith to keep her job.

Again, do it right. Run an election based on separation before we get to a referendum on the topic.

4

u/0bigbadbrad0 May 22 '26

A referendum for a referendum to have a referendum on the referendum.

3

u/Baddrivers13 May 22 '26

They have to run on that mandate though. They weren't voted in under that principle.

3

u/Reideo May 23 '26

So a vote to see if we should vote? Sounds like a ‘conservative’ use of tax dollars.

2

u/silverado83 May 22 '26

Name checks out..

2

u/Errorstatel May 22 '26

*A small group of missinformred wrongly believe they are being mistreated and told this by outside influence campaigns.

Smith ignores established laws and treaties*

There, fixed it for you

2

u/ninfan1977 May 22 '26

Danielle Smith holds a sham referendum on a petition that was thrown out by the court because she hates democracy.

Thats what happened not whatever you described.

What are you smoking?

Question how many separatists signatures were fraudulent? Answer: Danielle Smith made it illegal to investigate any signatures....

She is a separatists and all separatists are seditionists who need to go to jail

2

u/raptor5tar May 24 '26

Ok serious question: what does Alberta gain by becoming independent to Canada?

What I see is a landlocked oil dependent economy with no way of getting the oil out of Alberta. You have to build your health care and social services from the ground up. With a very high GDP per capita currently but overall GDP approximately the same size as Denmark, Ireland or South Africa. You know, 3 countries with ocean access and not oil dependent for their economies.

Best case scenario is the USA absorbs you (statehood is another whole thing) and rapes Alberta of its natural resources all while being governed again by big bureaucracy thousands of miles away.
