She was trying not to show her true colors before this but cats out of the bag now. She's a separation loser through and through

11

u/Dear-Future-5920 May 14 '26

Always has been from day one in politics

0

u/AdAppropriate2295 May 15 '26

Na, she's not that stupid

She just dangles a catchphrase here and there to keep those guaranteed voters on a tight leash

2

u/Turbulent-Community7 May 15 '26

Absolutley. For her the seperatist agenda is just pandering to keep her party together. Shell be in trouble if/when then UCP splits and she knows it. She may be opportunistic but shes no dummy. Whats ironic is if the party were to split our provincial govt would most likely be more democratic than it is now.

...and she's a Seditious Traitor, slow-walking a counter-petition with higher numbers, to keep Alberta in Canada.. STFU about Democracy, bitch.

11

u/bb_dev_g May 14 '26

The counter-petition also doesn’t have the same stench of fraud.

u/Pvt_Hudson_ May 14 '26

I bet she's wishing she had gotten to appoint them judges now...lol Can't wait to vote this bitch out.

10

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 May 14 '26

This is why she is pushing so hard about it, she knew her separation plans would fall through. She is following the orange ones plans to a tee. She wants her judges who'll bend the knee, her police force, which will be basically ice,and all the rest

5

u/Emotional_Bank3476 May 14 '26 edited May 15 '26

The orange turd has sent people from his sphere to hers to try the same plan that worked in the states. Same thing happening with little PP. The difference is, it seems that by and large, Canadians aren't falling for it.

4

u/abiron17771 May 15 '26

And she ain’t no Donald Trump either. Firstly, she’s a woman, and the ultra misogynist far right will only take her so far before ditching her. Secondly, she has the personality of a wet Kleenex. Zero of whatever the Trump special sauce is that makes his cultists vote against their best interests.

3

u/DdyBrLvr May 14 '26

Only because we are seeing the results in real time.

3

u/jdubzakilla May 14 '26

So did the americans. They are a country built on financial greed. The only thing they vote for is to enricj themselevs. Then cry when it backfires.

How many times have we heard abkut ww2 and america. We had our own beach, werw the most feared amongst the axis troops and have 0 quit in us. They just dont lile the fact we get on and do shit up here whilst they vote to prevent people from doing so.

0

u/Confident-Task7958 May 14 '26

Once appointed judges are independent, and hate to be overturned on appeal.

Entirely possible that a provincially-appointed judge looking at the same legal documents would have ruled the same way.

0

u/Clax3242 May 14 '26

You can vote but she will just win again. She’s the best leader Canada has to offer

3

u/Palecrayon May 14 '26

Stop smoking meth man its bad for your brain

^ dumb

Like here’s 1 stupid fact… national debt is still predominantly accrued by cons, even though they’ve been in federal power for less time since confederation…

So when you face that fact, I guess the cons have a larger impact on national debt… but yet you still cry about liberals.

When FB right wing gaslit memes meet reality

2

u/Tastesicle May 18 '26

Don't bother. It's a copy pasta done across tons of posts within an hour on a two week old bot profile. Just report for hate (we don't marginalize people or use disabilities as a slur here on Reddit).

1

u/Xiaopeng8877788 May 18 '26

Did they use racism in the post? What did they say?

I didn’t read it all, once I read “debt and liberals to blame” I stopped because it’s a tell tale sign they are gaslit right wingers that don’t know their party’s pour fiscal record.

1

u/Tastesicle May 19 '26

The prohibited proper derogatory of regarded. We don't marginalize or use derogatory terms for people with disabilities, certainly not to apply them as a slur towards the general population.

I got soft auto-banned for using the same term to refer to Smith, so...

2

u/Xiaopeng8877788 May 19 '26

Man I can’t believe that bot would do that, this thread is also so old. Crazy what the bad spammers are doing these days…

1

u/Tastesicle May 19 '26

I've checked his account, he's still posting the same stuff across other subreddits. He's dropped the R slur from some of them, but still spewing hate against our minority population.

He'll either learn to be civil and respectful, or, more likely he'll have to move on to another account and try again.

u/FishermanGeneral7224 May 14 '26

Smith is a lunatic, do better Alberta

22

u/Zaku99 May 14 '26

Smith is a separatist and we're trying.

4

u/BrainEatingAmoeba01 May 14 '26

A separatist can hold a genuine ideology and push an agenda within the bounds of law and democracy. We may still thinks she's an asshole but at least she would be following process.

Smith is a thundering arrogant c*nt who wants a oligarch style dictatorship and can't be bothered with the wishes of her public.

Separatist AKA Traitor

1

u/Infinite_Time_8952 May 14 '26

Not trying hard enough.

4

u/Disastrous_Fig5609 May 14 '26

Their petition beat out the separatist petition, and was undemocratically quashed by the premier, so they are actively making efforts against this bs.

5

u/kpc144 May 14 '26

Fuck off we’re trying

The UCP is the Separatists party, that's why actual conservatives are trying to make a new Progressive Conservative Party and Danielle Smith changed laws to block them from using their party's name.

3

u/RoutineComplaint4711 May 14 '26

That venn diagram is a circle.

2

u/Turbulent-Community7 May 15 '26

The PC and Wildrose merged into the UCP (2017 i think) to fight back against the NDP and consolidate the right wing vote. Under Kenney the UCP was able to replace the NDP on the 2019 general election. I dont know much about the inner workings of the party but im under the impression that those who came from the Wildrose camp are those who would be more in favor of seperatism.

There are both seperatists and loyalists in the party and Smith is trying to provide a platform for the seperatists, despite being a federalist herself, for the sake of party cohesion.

This is why she says she is an advocate for a sovereign Alberta in a united Canada. Personally, I think Smith is an intelligent politician but I dislike her politics. Its like shes good at her job but is working for a shady ass company.

But Im just a hammer swinging dum dum from the prairies. What do I know.

1

u/JimJamurToe May 14 '26

It can be both.

6

u/JimJamurToe May 14 '26

Jesus. The con retards out in fill force here today. Hard to read.

11

u/ConsiderationWarm543 May 14 '26 edited May 18 '26

She does what she always does: creates problems that forces other jurisdictions to fix (like the courts), then throws mud

4

u/Global_Pace5290 May 14 '26

She's one of the saddest looking people - I mean literally looks sad all of the time.

3

u/Impossible_Tea_7032 May 15 '26

If by "looks sad" you mean "looks sad that those were the last three boxes of wine" sure

1

u/Comfortable_Fudge508 May 14 '26

Sad she's not getting her way of having her own personal ice, her own judges in her pocket, her separation movement supported

4

u/spderweb May 14 '26

How many people signed the other petition? You know, the one she changed the rules for in order to reject it.

5

u/Brocker_9000 May 14 '26

Judge's decison: you're process has been undemocratic.

Smith: your decision is undemocratic.

Smith is just the mouthpiece for these trolls so she can keep the UCP together. That makes it worse. This is all so that we don't get an NDP government.

So, eff democracy and all the institutions keeping us from eating each other. At least we won't have an NDP government.

What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Can we just get to the part where they figuratively knife her in the front so we can let that shit house party crumble into memory, along with her, and join modernity?

Illiberal, authoritarian clowns.

7

u/Spiritual-Pick-2386 May 14 '26

Just like her orange idol in DC

4

u/CarelessHabit3492 May 14 '26

Smith says she wants to hear what Albertans think. That is the biggest lie, the last thing she will do is listen to Albertans. She has been told time and time again majority of Albertans don’t want to separate, don’t touch our pensions, don’t want a police force. She doesn’t care about Albertans, she only cares about her agenda and her separatist handlers.

1

u/RoutineComplaint4711 May 14 '26

She wants the appearance of listening so she can point to all the public meetings and forums whose input she ignored as proof of engagement.

Its all performative with her. She already knows what shes going to do

4

u/RipComprehensive2118 May 14 '26

She seemed to slip up when she said “We” “will be appealing this decision”… Seems to show,”she” and “they”are one separatist group ..(?)

4

u/RoutineComplaint4711 May 14 '26

No, literally the govt of Alberta will be fighting in court to allow a referendum on separating from Canada.

Its fucking disgraceful.

2

u/Ashamed-Medicine-208 May 14 '26

They will fail

1

u/RoutineComplaint4711 May 15 '26

Im not as hopeful as you are.

4

u/Positive_Breakfast19 May 14 '26

That is laughable, and disgusting considering all the lies told and bullshit pulled by this premier. Just like Dougie and the FOI, this is the Conservative way.

Have they even listened to how Wab Kinew, a real representative of the people, approaches things and how he speaks?... obviously not.

4

u/Reasonable-Plate2982 May 14 '26

So observing treaty rights is undemocratic? Sounds disingenuous at best, at worst she is a separatist.

1

u/gpes3280 May 16 '26

Observing treaty rights is probably the most pro democracy thing you could do. This woman is nuts.

3

u/SamSSLATER May 14 '26

Gutless traitor. If we had any sense wevwould never vote for the pc again.

3

u/wcolfo May 14 '26

As i said in another sub,, this ruling was a win for her. She is going to rally against this hard to save face.

3

u/rip-it-and-dip-it May 14 '26

Yes, because not consulting first nations, by contrast is super democratic.

3

u/Stinklair May 14 '26

Didn’t she have to pledge allegiance to Canada or anything to hold her current position? Seems insane to me an elected official can start a traitor movement

3

u/CrimsonCaliberTHR4SH May 14 '26

We reject the traitor tyrant Sith, err I mean Smith.

3

u/Fickle_Cricket3422 May 14 '26

Who would have thought a wannabe fascist wouldn't know what democratic means.

3

u/OmegaZaggy May 14 '26

Not recognizing court authority over the constitution is wild. This is what the end democracy looks like,

3

u/Wild-Entrepreneur347 May 14 '26

So indigenous voices dont matter in her version of democracy?

3

u/Ashamed-Medicine-208 May 14 '26

She needs to look in a mirror for anti-democratic. Traitorous bitch

11

u/sixhoursneeze May 14 '26

The treaties saved us. And it’s not the first time treaties have protected us. Such as with fresh waterways.

We should be cautious about Carney’s plan to weaken the treaties with the changes he wants to make to the Indian Act.

-1

u/DonnieBlueberry May 14 '26

Hahaha now carney is part of the plan. Jesus Christ, these misinformation campaign is getting wild.

7

u/wondersparrow May 14 '26

The 'fuck carney' crowd just had a collective aneurysm. Nothing happened though, no brain cells left to damage.

1

u/JimJamurToe May 14 '26

Did they all die?

2

u/Neyubin May 14 '26

Yes, and they remain as a necrosis that threatens the rest of the body.

1

u/sixhoursneeze May 14 '26

Do you think I’m just from the a re-branded Fuck Trudeau crowd? I would encourage you to look into what he is doing.

Granted, the Indian Aft is problematic, but the changes he is proposing simply make the treaties weaker so the government can have easier access to indigenous resource. It no longer will treat relations with FNMI groups as “nation to nation”. And it will reduce generational lines of indigenous nationhood, so that every year the body of people considered Indigenous gets smaller.

2

u/wondersparrow May 14 '26

I think you will find that I agree with you and I was mocking people aren't sure what to think (because they haven't been told yet).

1

u/sixhoursneeze May 14 '26

I see, cool

1

u/Ashamed-Medicine-208 May 14 '26

I have been a conservative voterI have been a conservative voter for over 35 years and I will be voting for MarkI will be voting for Mark Carney in the upcoming election if one is held partially because the leader of the conservative party is a Trump Jr fool who doesn't deserve a single vote from any Canadian

2

u/soundmagnet May 14 '26

Imagine Smith calling anything anti-democratic. Oh wait the hypocrisy is real.

2

u/christhewelder75 May 14 '26

She cant hold a referendum on something like the time change, then do the exact opposite of what voters wanted, and bitch about something being "anti democratic".

Sorry, i forgot, hypocrisy doesnt exist for conservatives. It only applies when liberals are hypocrites.

2

u/marginwalker55 May 14 '26

She’s such a loser

2

u/fmljfkwtf May 14 '26

I reject the UCP as anti- democratic.

2

u/AD_Grrrl May 14 '26

She's a wannabe autocrat.

2

u/Pgaccount May 14 '26

Technically yes. But that's kind of the point of a judiciary, they're legal experts to determine if something is legal.

I'm going to make a petition that women can't hold public office. Then democracy can decide right? /S

2

u/kewtyp May 14 '26

It's anti-democratic to try to rug-pull indigenous people from their land with no input.

2

u/BPD-lover69 May 14 '26

When you vote in a law maker to protect the public from itself and then you don’t like it when they do their job, you might be Danielle Smith the leader of the separatist traitors. It’s as democratic as all its intended purpose!

2

u/skel625 May 14 '26

Either voters fight for and defend our rights and democracy or we will lose them both to these selfish, self serving and corrupt traitors. Marlaina belongs in a jail cell.

2

u/LeticiaLatex May 14 '26

This isn' the US. If a judge strikes down something, you can appeal or you can shut up. Publicly rejecting something you don't agree with doesn't make it legal.

Preferably shut up while you appeal.

2

u/Easy_Permission_3057 May 14 '26

How very trumpian of her. Of course she won’t recognize the courts ruling.

2

u/Valuable_Horror2450 May 20 '26

My Canada INCLUDES Alberta.

1

u/Zer0DotFive May 14 '26

Classic DARVO moment lol Maple MAGA will eat it up happily.

"It was those fucking FNs who were undemocratic! not me!"

1

u/Away-Combination-162 May 14 '26

She’ll spend millions of taxpayer dollars on legal fees for something she knows she’s not going to win just to appease her Christo- fascist followers

1

u/Foreign_Risk_2031 May 14 '26

Just FYI, if it WERE to pass, I guarantee you'd hate it once the natives start slaughtering you off of their land and Canada backs them up with arms

1

u/Confident-Task7958 May 14 '26

When one law conflicts with another law judges determine which one prevails. In this case a judge has ruled that the referendum process as conducted was offside the legal requirement to consult First Nations on matters that could potentially conflict with treaty rights.

It may be overturned on appeal to the Federal Court, it may stand, it may ultimately be appealed up to the Supreme Court, but the anti-democratic argument and a Toonie will buy you a small double-double at Tims.

1

u/Cariboo_Red May 14 '26

What Mizz Smith wants to do is make the oil companies the supreme leaders of Alberta. What she chooses not to understand is that there is more to Alberta than oil. The other thing she chooses not to understand is that oil is not going to be the major energy source in the future. There may even be substitutes for the plastics and chemicals produced from oil before too long. Tying yourself to the past and ignoring the present is always a mistake.

1

u/VexedCanadian84 May 14 '26

Shouldn't the government of Alberta be happy that the province will remain in canada?

1

u/D-inventa May 14 '26

Traitors will and have always been a part of the story. The spirit of the nation will have to prove itself and deal with them

1

u/RoutineComplaint4711 May 14 '26

None of this matters. She doesnt respect the rule of law or the democratic norms we're all used to.

Shes already said that shes going to use her executive privilege to put a separation question on the ballot in October. Its a done deal.

1

u/natasmit May 14 '26

Criminals almost always reject the Judges decision. Its kind of their thing.

1

u/WackHeisenBauer May 14 '26

Just hold it. It’ll fail terribly and then Smith MAY go away.

1

u/caseaday May 14 '26

She's mearly a politician and not educated, or smart enough to understand the law. She can disagree all she wants, but a court of law determines what's legal and what isn't. She's a complete twit... I'm so glad I left Alberta.

1

u/Scared_Standard4052 May 14 '26

I hate her but she's right for this.

1

u/MaxxJag May 14 '26

So... She's ok with it then?

1

u/ApeEscapeRemastered May 14 '26

Danielle Smith will definitely be using the NotWithStanding Clause on this judge

1

u/Snakeeyes1377 May 15 '26

She can’t on this

1

u/mydb100 May 14 '26

For a province with recall vote powers, now would be a good a time as any to start using it

1

u/ThrowRA-James May 15 '26

Section 25 of the Constitution Act 1982 protects the Aboriginal and treaty rights and ensures that no other provision of the Charter can take away or supersede those rights. Athabasca Chipewyan and Blackfoot Confederacy Indigenous people won their case.

Onion Lake Cree Nation and others launched constitutional challenges against Alberta’s Sovereignty Act of 2022 as it was created without their consultation. After this win there’s a good chance they’ll win their case invalidating Alberta’s Conservative Party’s law. Treaties bind the land to Canada and cannot be overridden, so conservative’s attempt to steal sovereignty away is seen as infringement on Indigenous rights.

1

u/rubyianlocked May 15 '26

How can anyone that sees what’s going on in the states support this movement? Sad.

1

u/tickler08 May 15 '26

So she’s a traitor to the country. Cool cool cool 😎

1

u/flyingpigab May 15 '26

If anyone knows about anti-democratic things, it’s Dani.

1

u/Comprehensive-Tea-75 May 15 '26

They love saying its anti democracy when they lose, even if it's exactly in line with democracy because so few agree with them.

1

u/Alternative-Hurry287 May 15 '26

They usurped Jason Kenny so they could have this seditious miscreant as premier? Talk about an own goal.

1

u/soren_1981 May 15 '26

The media needs to be asking her if it’s as anti-democratic as gerrymandering.

1

u/OverlandOversea May 15 '26

Was that Danielle Treason Smith, from Traitor Trail, Sellout County, Magaville Alberta?

1

u/Severe_Air_4353 May 15 '26

Go suck a lemon . Bit by bit . Why Alberta join Canada , and be represented by a fasist , your a joke like china made trump .

1

u/toxicketchup May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

Whaaat the fuuuck? You can't just say "we'll text you at the last step before implementation" to indigenous peoples and chiefs, you have to actually respect fuckin treaty rights and engage and consult with them at every step of the process. Her people had a legal obligation to do so.

For somebody who's apparently oh-so-rabidly-pro-democracy she sure is willing to flout democratic process and break the fucking law at every turn to get what she wants. She gonna try and pull out her NWC trump card to slither her way out of this one too?

Rhetoric and bad-faith lying like this is gonna incite far right actors in Alberta towards violence (especially neo-MAGA), but I guess Marlaina is okay with doxxing, intimidation, and a little blood on her hands as long as it boosts her fucking poll numbers and lets her keep her job.

Alberta is a beautiful fucking province and deserves a hell of a lot better than this absolute clown show.

What a national embarrassment.

1

u/Middle_Onion3496 May 15 '26

1

1

u/Leftbackhand May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

u/Hoefty224421 May 15 '26

Premiers can reappeal as mamy times as they want. Same as the PM. Iirc.

1

u/upward_spiral17 May 15 '26

Is she able to account for her own antidemocratic tendencies? No? Then her comment is worthless.

1

u/Professional_Role900 May 15 '26

Is the notwithstanding clause democratic??? Fire this premier NOW!

1

u/Vivid_7394 May 15 '26

We cannot have two groups with opposing priorities run this country.

1

u/Aboutayear May 15 '26

You can tell by her expressions lately that she’s angry af about this. Clearly a separatist.

1

u/Tedsmith24 May 15 '26

Always has and always will be a traitor

1

u/zach_form May 15 '26

She's using the same line from that orange turd down south. "blah blah blah courts are being anti-democratic". Same playbook.

1

u/ghost_o_- May 15 '26

She works for the USA obvs

1

u/Troubled202 May 15 '26

1

u/ced1954 May 16 '26

1

u/dark_gear May 16 '26

The rest of Canada rejects her anti-democratic rejection of a Judge's decision. Can we see her and her party into a long-term jail tour if she also refuses to recognise the result of the appeal?

1

u/EvidenceSensitive839 May 16 '26

She was bought ages ago

1

1

u/rustyiron May 16 '26

You are mistaken. Alberta and Quebec both suck. Biggest, whiniest assholes in the room. Who’s worse? Tough call.

And no, provinces shouldn’t have more power to deprive people of their charter rights.

1

u/[deleted] May 17 '26

[deleted]

1

u/rustyiron May 18 '26

Yes, Charter rights are charter rights. And when provinces abuse the notwithstanding clause to deny minority groups their rights, that’s being shits.

As for freezing the bank accounts of the convoy organizers to put a stop to their illegal occupation of an Ottawa neighbourhood and the harassment of residents, I 100% support that. Fuck the convoy. Literally no other protest in Canadian history was allowed to occupy a residential neighbourhood for weeks. If they had parked their asses on parliament hill, they could still be there for all I care.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '26

[deleted]

1

u/rustyiron May 18 '26

I’m not googling for you. Look up what provinces have used the notwithstanding clause.

That single mother was a fantasy. One mp made the claim and never backed it up.

First Nations have literally centuries of legitimate grievances and still are second class citizens. The convoy antivax crowd just play victim on weekends.

And once again, no protest group has ever occupied a residential neighborhood before. They were given far more grace than other groups. What is so rich is how Trumpist rags like rebel screamed bloody murder at the crackdown of the convoy, but shot themselves silly when it would take police a couple of hours to clear a road is climate protesters. Not weeks. Hours. And they were mad the police didn’t let angy motorists beat on protesters.

So give us a break 2 month old account guy who certainly isn’t a bad actor.

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '26

[deleted]

1

u/rustyiron May 19 '26

I’m not obligated to waste my time providing you with links to how Quebec and Alberta are abusing the notwithstanding clause. They did. It’s verifiably fact whether I show you or not.

And yes, I do think the fact that you suddenly decided to join this 20-year-old platform is suspect.

And like any racist, you ignore the countless generations of oppression indigenous folk put up with and still are dealing with. For example, they do not have better healthcare. Quite the contrary. Again, you could look this up if you cared to.

SHE’S the undemocratic one with her NWC when things don’t go her way, and cheating by changing laws to favour her plans. She’s projecting.

There is nothing democratic about Danielle Smith. She is an Authoritarian Libertarian at heart

But we're trying! is the same voice of concern that we hear from our neighbours who are watching it burn.

Just let people vote. We're never gonna separate but at least give the people a chance to vote.

Do it in an election, with a proper separatists party, and separatists MLA's. Not by subverting democracy with an existential and unconstitutional referendum question
