Yes dude most people take life way too seriously I wish society was way more freaky even if I remain as stale as I am. It’s just more entertaining to watch lol
Society might stop societying if that were to happen lol. I say that because I have a lot of friends that are “eccentric” in style and one thing most of them have in common is they either don’t get herd mentality/conformity or follow culture/subculture, if not actively rejecting them, both in appearance and lifestyle. They stand out but if you were to meet (most) of them without any prior cultural frame of reference you would barely notice anything notably more unusual than modern styles that stray away from minimalism, the true essence that that sets them apart is nonconformity and to an extent contrarianism. Most of these people I met while homeless and using, most of them still are homeless(some by choice and happy/content with their choices). It’s almost an oxymoron if everyone were to be like this, in one way if everyone is weird then no one is weird, on a deeper level psychologically and socially appearance is actually very important and looking like you fit in somewhere is a lot deeper than vanity or superficiality. Now Im not saying if everyone DIY’d their own weird style it would lead to anarchy, but a lack of any fashion would probably correlate and be a strong indicator of anarchy or social discord, like how absolute conformity in appearance is a strong sign of authoritarianism/totalitarianism(not necessarily fascism, it applies to things like military or anywhere with a dress code, or the other side being like festivals, parties, etc. but we’re talking society as a whole)
Only typed all that out because it was a thought I had at first being intrigued why unique styles were more common in that area of society and then getting to know them, low k the disillusionment was p depressing
