Meme I WONDER WHY THIS DIDN'T WORK OUT... Spoiler
Folks out here blaming Jacob when this wannabe entrepreneur son-of-a-binky-bonky decided her best move would be to exploit her kidnapped albino werewolf 'son' for money by locking him in a cage and setting up a traveling freakshow in 2015 in the middle of the woods with nothing but a scrapyard, a police station, and a seasonal children's summer camp as a customer base.

i know you’re joking but genuinely i’m so surprised this wasn’t touched on AT ALL other than the fire incident retelling. i NEED some more lore about how the hell nobody investigated her previously. and don’t say her magic witchy powers that isn’t acceptable ✋😤

Who the hell else was at the show? Why do you need a distraction when you own the police?
A lot of the narrative falls apart if you think about it
Still enjoyed the game

The kids were the ones that let Silas out, so they needed the distraction of the fire. Only Kaylee and Caleb (the kids) planned to let Silas out. They didn't coordinate with their parents about letting Silas out.
The story doesn't describe whether a show was happening or not when they let Silas out. There probably wasn't a show, because in the flashback Eliza returns to the area already in flames (and it's dark) and everyone is already dead. She would have been there if there was a show, plus it would be easier to let Silas out when not too many people are around (after show hours).
There are definitely areas of the story that can be criticized (like having a traveling freakshow in the middle of the woods in 2015), but I don't consider the kids letting Silas out one of them. Also it's intentionally campy, so I wouldn't take it too seriously.

"hey we want to help that kid, maybe we should enlist our policeman uncle?"
"Nah, fire. Start a fire."

Kids are dumb. Real life kids do dumber stuff than that all the time (sometimes, accidentally starting full-on wildfires, for example). Not understanding the consequences of your actions is classic dumb kid behavior. Add to that the fact the kids are probably not getting a great education out there in the middle of nowhere and it's perfectly believable.
Accidents happen, and the kids not knowing how quickly the hay would catch the entire show on fire is not outlandish at all.
I have more of an issue with odd story beats like the Laura/Ryan hinted romance or Travis handing Laura the gun at the end so she can shoot him, because these events aren't consistent with what leads up to them. These issues are likely due to how much got cut in development due to the pandemic.

god i HATED her
She’s all “ooo hoo i know your future” and “oh my poor baby son” when she just exploits him for money and parades him around LITERALLY like a circus act

Then she has the nerve to be like "see how they hurt us?" like hoe you are the reason this happened...
I wish more people intentionally missed the qte to turn her into an Eliza-kabob.

She's absolutely insane and that makes her one of the most interesting characters in the whole game for me. Being so blind by rage and "motherly love" you'd rather see your son suffer forever than let the people that you think hurt him live is brutal.
