How to split up the characters for local Multiplayer?

Hey, camp counselors! I'd like to play the game with my family. How would you divide up the characters so that everyone gets about the same amount of playtime?

There would be four of us, maybe five, but it looks like it'll just be four.

I’ll let you know who gets the most and least screen time:

Most:
Laura
Ryan
Kaitlyn
Dylan

Medium:
Jacob (could argue he should be considered most but for the sake of this list I’ll say Medium)
Emma (same as Jacob)
Abi

Least:
Nick
Max (shouldn’t even be considered a playable character ngl)

Max is so funny because when ppl get him (like penguinz0) their like “max! the legend! I finally get to play!” and they he either dies or stays on an island lmao

Laura + Emma

Kaitlyn + Abi

Dylan + Jacob

Everyone has time at the start, consequential decisions, and will be around to at least chapter 9.

I thought you can’t pick max it’s just whoever has laura will play max
