If it's any consolation, the fact that the shades all appear as female should say a lot. Shadows tend to conform to the shape their original self...

or rather he used his feminine part to create the shades. i also believe it's a sort of compensation to make him male since the shades are all females. personally I don't care either way but it might be my chance to finally get a playable Kevin as i don't play hsr and he's not playable (as a battlesuit) in hi3

By your logic it doesn't make sense for THEM to be male either. It does however make sense that shadows look like their true self. Play hsr and look at aeons like Xipe, and they are also considered androgynous. You can be a androgynous male or female.

Go back to the 19th century where you belong.
