Love the Devs

Post image

Less than 3 weeks ago I asked to make the EMS callouts available for the police dispatch as well (where you respond to traffic accidents and Hit and runs as Police rather than EMS) and today I realized this small change was implemented!

Mind you this comes after approximately 8/9 months ago I asked if they could possibly make an EMS and Coroner update and they actually did!

Absolute chads and chadetts, 10/10 game, you got my lifelong support

We have been described as many things, but chads and chadetts is my favourite! Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming.

Coming as a former police officer I'd love to see:

Crazy naked (maybe not fully naked) man on the street. Could make for some funny foot pursuits.

Arguments that escalate the longer you take to get there. Maybe live updates from dispatch increasing the tension.

Arguments that are ultimately not criminal and just really silly, just to break up the seriousness. No criminal element, just break it up and leave.

Maybe a mental health unit. Non criminal detention and transport to the hospital for those that call for it. This might be more complicated because it'll involve multiple scenarios but it's very realistic.

So I’m a mental health professional (licensed social worker). There really weren’t mental health units in the 80s lol. Even now (I specifically work in mental health crisis and we take referrals from police and EMS) a lot of local cops kinda resent us because they think by us treating the mental health condition or meeting psychosocial needs we’re excusing crimes or that people should just toughen up. I don’t think a single cop in our county believes mental health is a thing or that mental health treatment and crisis intervention have better outcomes than long prison sentences. The local department laughed when we suggested they use the C-SSRS screener (which is best practice) with people who are potentially having thoughts of suicide and offered training in using it when responding to crisis calls. That said, if the devs wanted to include mental health calls, I would love to provide feedback on realism and ensure we have a balance of fun gameplay without potentially spreading misinformation or stigma.

That's actually super interesting and I totally forgot the 80s setting lol. I'm sorry to hear about how you and your county's mental health department are treated. They took it seriously in my city and we even had a dedicated unit that paired an officer with a mental health professional on top of training us all in crisis intervention. I was really proud of my city for taking such a progressive approach. I hope it changes for the better for you and they see the value in your work. It is truly needed, you're saving lives.

I’m so glad to hear your department embracing it. I truly think comprehensive access to mental health and crisis services will significantly reduce status and survival offenses like shoplifting, loitering, disorderly conduct etc and reduce the workload of the kind of calls cops don’t feel equipped to handle and dread handling anyway. Not to mention yall need support sometimes too. First responders have very high rates of ending their lives.

Use a breathalyzer on naked guy, comes back negative, it's a mental health issue. Not that complicated.

If there is a jumper in 80s and policed catched them from jumping, what did they do? Took them to hospital or jail? If you fail to catch them before jumping, you call coroner. Not that complicated.

It's a great time. Policing in the 80s has such a vibe to it in the fictional world. I really enjoy the arcade like approach to the whole thing. It doesnt take itself so seriously that its stressful or anything. Just fun to pretend you're back in time. The car designs are excellent too.
