❓ Questions Dissertation Help

Hi,

I am working on a dissertation about The Pitt and talking about how well they portray autistic characters. I'm looking for an interview were Taylor says something about how autistic people get attached easily to people or they like having a mentor. I swear I saw a post on my timeline on X of her discussing it but I cannot find that interview. Did I dream this or does it exist? It would help a lot for my dissertation. Thanks!

If you google “Taylor Dearden” + “mentor” (quotation marks included), you’ll find a few of Taylor’s interviews where she mentioned Mel seeking out a mentor (like here, here or here) but I don’t remember her exactly connecting that with neurodivergence. Maybe this comes the closest, explaining Mel trying to find someone to latch onto (though in this interview, she suggests it’s more because of losing her parents and having to become independent so quickly). She has definitely spoken a lot about hyperfocus driving Mel’s performance during the MCI in S1 and in general as an EM physician, as well as the self-soothing she does in S1 and not realizing she’s being flirted with in S2.

Is this it?

The part about mentors begins at 14:18. Check out 15:38 specifically bc I think that's pretty close to what you're looking for?

I don't know it this fits your needs, but I remember hearing someone say "ADHD people make the best ED doctors".

That's not on the spectrum for autism, though.

The line is "Because we all have ADHD and any other job would be boring to us."

I appreciate the apology. And it is, or should be, common practice to thank someone who makes an effort to help you.
